As for the sound... I wouldn't say it's "givin' me fits" really. We just gotta get to know each other. I knew it would be "different"... I just never expected it to be SSSOOO different!

For some reason, I never seemed to like the MM thing, I think because of all the slappers with that super bright thing that’s like a cheese grater to the brain. But then I hear certain folks like Tony Levin make em sound really awesome in their own way. I have a parts bass that I may use to experiment with this sound on...maybe
They do look great! I’ve said this too many times, but... my frustration with Gibson reissues is they often come close to the great looks of those awesome old basses, but they sound nothing like the originals. This was the case with the Ripper, Grabber and G3 at least. With the RD’s I would think the goal should be to get that look and sound without all the weight. But from what I can tell, they’re still quite heavy :/
If I had to have the RD look, I’d be trying to grab a First Act CS Delgado. That one in the classifieds right now is sweet!

Ha! But I’m serious! There are sweet spots with tube amps. The question will be whether the yba 200 will have enough authority in the lows once things start getting kinda loud. I like when the top end starts sounding stressed, but the lows gotta stay big and solid and try as I might, I just don’t love dirt pedals much. I do love my Reiner Gasoline OD, but that’s a different thing. I have a feeling I’m gonna want to ‘go big’ with either a Mesa 400, Mesa Strategy or SVTII non pro, but maybe I’ll luck out with the yba 200. For the price I paid, I can either hang on to it as a recording amp, or sell it without losing any money (hopefully)

What amp did you buy?? I must have missed it in the avalanche of recent posts. Takes a while to catch up and I just skim some of it.
Where did that come from? I am waiting for my local Long & McQuade to get one in as I am quite interested in trying one out to see if one needs to find a home with me.

Those look like they use EB pickups like a 15 'Bird. They will be great as bass guitars but not as much like the originals if that is what you want. Just a guess from the appearances.

I think I found this pic on Reverb.com. I "think", Im on holidays now so Im living in a bit of a haze.
I love the irony in that being Kiss were the band that brought Rush into the spotlight to begin with. Gotta give some credit to the left handed cigarette for sure, can be quite influential.
