Speaking of delivery schedules, UPS tracking tells me my 2002 ‘Bird is on the truck and scheduled for delivery today. We’ll see. During this time of year, I try to not be too anxious about that stuff

In a way, I'm hoping there IS something wrong with yours, as I don't recognise your experience. Doesn't do clean, yes, but not to the extent that it's mushy. Plenty of low end paired with my cab etc.

Everyone is different I know, but I want people to get on with the amp, given that I'm effectively an endorser in these parts. I'm beginning to feel bad for giving you a bum steer.

It is kinda strange. I haven't heard negative words about Traynors, at all. not sayin Mark is bashing it one bit. But 200watts of tube power should get the job done quite nicely.

I avoided what I could, but I was green. It just seemed like part of the job. There was this one engineer that repeatedly went over my head to bitch about my manor of dress in the office. I tended to dress "appropriately"... but towards the lower end of the scale. While the "pretty boys" sat at their computers and went to meetings... I was out on the line, or building fixtures, or putting out fires. It is my belief that my proactiveness put a bullseye squarely in the middle of my back. I took my lunch break in the break room with the "commoners" instead of in the board room. I socialized with the folks in production and the IT guys, instead of the office "elites". This was a big one... I failed to join the other engineers on their golf league If I woulda known about all that... I probly woulda put an expiration date on the job application

I now have three pedals up for sale on eBay. I took the compressor off the board and felt nothing. No pangs, anguish, nausea. It may be the 'magic fairy dust' compressor, but if I don't use it there's no point keeping it. Easy in the end.

My latest signal path dilemma is whether or not the three boxes should be in a row:

Tuner > Flanger > Preamp/DI >> Amp

Or left as:

Tuner > Flanger >> Amp and with the Preamp/DI up top and completely out of the signal path for normal usage.

How 'true' is 'true bypass'?

Line 'em all up with the power supply, just because it is more anal that way. If you can stick them down at a precise 6 degree angle, it is even better.

The angle helps with the bypass, because it makes the magic smoke change directions in different ways from in to out instead of the same. That way, it knows where it is.

So the UPS delivery driver has been pulling into my trailer (caravan for the non-Yanks, I think?) park with its numbered spaces, looking for an apartment building with its numbered apartments, and then leaving without stopping... for three business days.

Shoot, I wouldn’t want you to feel bad about anything! I really do suspect something ain’t quite ‘right’ with my particular amp. Plus, I got it stupid cheap, so worst case I can let it go to someone who would appreciate its better qualities. Trust me, there’s a lot to like about this amp.

I'd like to be right for a change, we'll see. I've been quite put off when it says on the truck for delivery and doesn't show.

Same here. Heck, happened with my preamp tube today! Just seems to happen a lot around here and I hate getting too worked up over things I can’t control

Now I feel bad! I think it’s a really neat amp and love how inexpensive as well as light weight it is. I was also thinking a mid-powered amp would give me the appropriate dirty/clean/punchy combo I hear in my head, and by the time everything is said and done, this amp just might!
We’re all different and I think that’s the good news. Good example-
I went through a phase where I was trying to find the perfect J bass for me. I bought several really nice ones, but I just may not be a J kinda dude. One was a Fender Custom Shop ‘60’s model in seafoam green. It was so pretty to me, I can’t even tell you and it was perfect in every way...except I didn’t feel a thing when I played it. I knew it after one gig. I was playing SOMEONE ELSE’S BASS! That was about two years ago. The fella that bought it from me (I took a very tiny loss) still keeps in touch and hasn’t touched his other basses since he got the CS. It’s his dream bass. Makes me feel great that I got to participate in a very good person finding HIS BASS. Win/win

Always wondered that myself! I once sold an 1176, and that’s the only compressor I regret selling
