Thunderbird Club

Ran my errands...got home and there was a package waiting at the door, but not a bass or a preamp tube. The girl got a mountain of stuff she ordered at various points today and I got neither of the two things that were scheduled to be here today. I don’t blame them for playing favorites. I prefer her to me too :)

Day is not over, they might still deliver it later today.

Maybe they needed to make a second run because they couldn't fit any more stuff in the truck... a mountain is pretty big

Well, crap...UPS was here in the 40
minutes I was gone! They left one package for Jamie, but because mine required a signature, they didn’t leave it. Thing is, she was here the whole time and never heard the door, which happens a lot and only with UPS. No door tag either. Ever try calling their ‘customer service’ line? That put me in a way worse mood than missing the damn bass :/

Yeah that used to happen with Australia Post. You'd be at home and there would be a card left in the box saying you were out ... and you'd have to schlepp up to the post office to collect. We watched the prick getting out of his van and putting the card in the box without ringing the bell. Now there's a new postie and she actually tries to deliver packages. It's much better.

Thanks for the warm welcome! It's a 2001 with ebony fingerboard - previous owner must've been a metal-head because the strings are dragging on the frets, lol. Gonna do a setup tonight and get to rockin'. Yeah, it's crazy-cold down here at the moment - we're not used to this!!

Congrats on the new Bird!! My favorite bass ever is my 2001 ebony finished/ebony board Thunderbird. There is just something different about this one from any other bass or Thunderbird I have ever owned, and I have owned a LOT of basses.

Sheesh! On hold for 20 minutes or more. It was amazing how many times I was told “there’s nothing we can do about it” from folks I could barely understand. I’m seriously not a “I demand to speak with your supervisor!!!” kinda dude by any stretch, but that was a frustrating waste of my time. Might’ve gotten a tad pissy :)

After I explained my point of view to the last guy he really said this...
“Actually there was no attempt to deliver today, but we will reattempt by the end of the day Monday.”
“DID YOU HEAR WHAT YOU JUST SAID?!”
At that point, I just told the guy that the idea of an expensive, somewhat fragile package bouncing around in the back of a truck, exposed to the cold, whatever, for 3 more days was unacceptable. Especially since we are not the ones at fault here. As if by magic, he gives me an address, says I’ll be getting a call within the hour and can go pick it up tonight. WhY couldn’t we just have made that happen without me having an hour of my life wasted and without making me become a total a$$hole just to fix a simple problem?

That got me worked up pretty good :)

Sorry to rant, guys!

Sometimes you just have to be a dick. Other times it's better to be nice. Sounds like it was one of those times being a dick paid off.
Glad to hear that you'll be getting it tonight though!

A few times when I can hardly understand someone, I just say "I'm having a hard time understanding you. May I please speak to someone else?" It's paid off a few times.
