I took delivery of my new to me, 2007 TBird Studio V. I unstrung it, gave it a good cleaning and set it up with strap locks to match my TBird IV so I just use the one strap then I restrung and tuned her. My tuner would not register a 5B so I tuned the B string at the 5th fret and all was good.

Talk about subsonic!

It took me about 10-15 minutes for my brain to reprogram itself to accommodate the B string for my plucking hand since the reach is further but after a bit it was natural. I'm curious to see if I'll be able to switch back and forth with little trouble after I've gotten use to it.

My next move is to put a set of chrome flat wounds on her to replace the round wounds.

At first blush, I'm really happy about the quality of the Studio V and its tone is as clean as my IV and it is even deeper and richer if that's possible. It sure did sound that way to me. It could just be the difference in strings... I'll know soon enough when my IV and V are strung similarly.

My new to me Bach TH-1 that Carlo so kindly offered to sell me. Great skinny fast playing neck. I love it. This is what Gibson's NR RI should have been. Has the original Artec pickup in a chrome cover but soon will have a new Lull in it's place.

That is one nice looking NR... Not normally a big fan of NR's, but this one is really beautiful! :)

Hey LJVSK, those are a couple of gorgeous birds. If I may ask, where did you find the 5er? I have watched the classifieds here, craigslist, several music stores, ebay, etc and have not seen one for sale. I played one owned by the husband of a gal that manages a music store I visit, and loved it. I have had my eye out for one ever since. Congrats and enjoy!
Border.

Thanks, Border! I did the same thing you're doing. It popped up on a google search that indicated one was sitting in the GC in NC. I called and talked to an associate that said it just came in and that pics weren't up yet. I asked about its condition and asked for some pics. The dude texted me pics and we negotiated a price out the door(tax and shipping). I had been looking daily for 3 months and this is the first one I found for sale so i didn't hesitate. The thing I liked about it is how near mint it is and that it's part of the last year's production run. She's a keeper!

The wife asked me what's next? It made me laugh... I think an NR would be sweet but I'll have to cool it for a bit... that's three Gibson's in 4 months, 2 for me and 1 for my oldest son.

Bach did a great job on these I own three :) I'd love to get my hands on a white series 2.

Hey LJVSK, thank you for the reply. I will keep looking, and put the word out to my friend at GC to keep his eyes open for one. I asked him about it yesterday afternoon...and ended up ordering one of the (last) new faded sunburst explorers GC carries. I will try and post a picture of her when she arrives.
Great looking family, and band as well!
Take care,
Border.

Anyone know where I can get Thunderbird pg material? I need thin w/b/w .060. I had been getting this from Chandler but they do not have it in stock anymore. I need to run a batch of pickguards I'm up the creek without a paddle!

Bummer, Scott. That's the only place I know that carried it. IMO most people won't care if you switch to .090. They will still be the most accurate repros available.
