Had this PF50T not had a problem in the power section. I would have kept it. Couldn't believe 50watts of tube power could drive the 810.

And before Will chips in with his ACC stack, I'll concede that trad class A/B solid state amps may also have that depth and heft, but again, there are substantial differences to the class Ds.
Yeah. It's sad that GK's Class A/B amps (RB series) are going away. But I'll reserve judgement until I hear what they're replaced with.

Just did another remote session at home. The band sound is somewhere between The Jam and early Elvis Costello. Cataldo NR41 with Crome flats sounded awesome to me. Did two tracks of bass. One squeaky clean through my 6SL7 tube pre and another with the Traynor yba200-2 and 1822 mic’d. Pretty happy with the results :)

I really do love that just about everything out there that is touted as giving 'tube sound', with the exception of actual valves, gets nowhere close.

I love that a guy who admits he's never played through a tube amp feels he's qualified to tell us which class d amp sounds the most 'tubey.'

Clearly, Roto think that’s the proper balance. And to that point, many strings with the same gauge feel wildly different. Cobalt 45-105 feel WAY stiffer than a lot of other strings with the same numbers, so there’s that to consider. I’ve also only ever used Roto nickel strings. Never tried the steels. For steels, I’ve always run Lo Riders for whatever reason. Like em too!
Funny thing is that I hardly notice stiff unless they aren't tactile enough. I really didn't like Cobalts that were lighter than 45-105 that I bought by mistake.

I really don’t envy string manufacturers trying to decide how to balance sets to suit as wide a demographic as possible. For awhile I was running Kalium strings because you can customize sets any way you please. They’re just really expensive and the site was a nightmare to navigate. Insane amount of options
And then there's CroMagnon people who will play almost anything so long as it's stiff enough.

That’s their problem :)
It’s also why there’s so much generic, crappy music.
I think a lot of folks are terrified to just be themselves and let the chips fall
We record rehearsals, and tonight just flat sucked. We were laughing about it and saying that we really should have a gig this coming week, because we had the official crappy practice. Yeah, we were ourselves and the music was probably not generic, but it was completely crappy. The chips fell, we swept 'em up, and flushed 'em. That happens sometimes. In 3000 years, some archaeologist will dig up a thumb drive and try to interpret the noises that come out. There's always a redeeming thought.

Plus, the blood blister on my right middle finger is about to the point I need to drain it to keep the whole thing from ripping off and making a mess. Then it will heal into a perfect rockabilly hook, assuming I don't tear it off anyway.

You can even get shirts made out of salami.
All of a sudden I am craving a Tort housecoat all velvet like and dark red and shiney and stuff. And thinking that maybe If I were in the Scorpions in the early 80's I would have been the mean dream machine sportin' a pair of Tort spandex with matching arm bands. @ Francis Buchholz you blew your opportunity to blow Rudolph and Mathias off stage dude!.

Because why?

I really do love that just about everything out there that is touted as giving 'tube sound', with the exception of actual valves, gets nowhere close.
I don't even like 'tube sound' for bass. Too much upright, maybe. I love small, flogged, abused, wrung out tube amps for guitar. Bass? Clean! Solid stat clean. Not burnt, crispy solid state with too much white in the sound, though.
