Thunderbird Club

I heard he was showing signs of improvement. The brain damage wasn't nearly as bad as first thought but I doubt he'll be playing a bass again. I think the new club member initiation revisions we put in place will keep the permanent damage to a minimum. Do you recall if @kat888 was supposed to dial back the voltage on the welder, or were we supposed to stop putting their feet in a tub of water, I'm confused. o_O
HAH!!! Kat... dial back??? That's probably what's supposed to happen, but GOOD LUCK!!!:roflmao:

I’ve always wanted to try one of those M-2000’s!

It was Mesa's most advanced amp in the late 90's - a real powerhouse. More or less 2 amps in one. 1/2 tube, 1/2 Fet (SS) with blending and incremental fine-tuning of each sides. Same Eden cab. I usually go "mix" (1/2 & 1/2) and rarely lift the output level (lowest central knob) past 9:45.

Looks like a "Dagwood" sandwich!

Pretty much! The GK MB800 needs to go in the shop. The Mesa D800 is a great class D amp. Totally legit.
The Carvin BX1600 has an amazing power section, but a poorly executed pre section. I keep it in the shop to test cabs. The Crest ProLite 2.0 used to be pretty good, but now has a pronounced POP sound when I slap upright too loud. The best amp of the bunch is my Reiner 6SL7 pre with a power amp. I keep it at home (safe) for sessions. The M9, Traynor and Sunn will stick around awhile, I think

Hopefully, I’ll stumble across one at some point :)

That is kinda funny isn't it. I always get a kick out of watching her little impish grin creep up as she turns that voltage dial to the right. Good news is the new guy isn't a Ric player, I think she takes great pleasure out of cranking the dial up on them. Just to be safe, we should give him a heads up not to mention tort guards, she hates that, and we don't need a repeat of #62.

I blame Vince's poorly timed joke about him having a Ric with a tort...

Back the first time around, my brother bid on a pallet at an auction that had, among a lot of other stuff, a Carver PM 1.5 power amp on it. He gave it to me, and I paired it with a BBE 383 bass preamp, for two reasons: it sounded good, and I could afford it. I think I gave just over $200 for it, new. Since power amps are generally really cheap now, when I was looking for a head, I looked for a good used 383 again...and was FLOORED by how spendy they'd gotten! Not too long after that I waited my way into an SVT-3 Pro ($299 on clearance at a prawn shop that doesn't move a lot of music gear) and about six months later my GK 800RB. That one ended up being about $350 after repairs. It's not doing much these days, but then neither is the Ampeg, at de mo'.

That 800RB is a wonderful amp.

I think it was my poorly timed purchase of a '62 P-bass with Tort..... Dunno where the Ric hatred came from.
Not sure if it's really Ric hatred vs Ric envy. I heard Kat's hubby laid the law down in the house - no more basses - they were encroaching on his bowling shoe and trucker jacket collection.

The bass is amazing ! Exactly what I was hoping for. After intonating it and putting my straplocks on everything is perfect! The tone is so good! Action is low as well . Worth every penny.
They are great basses. BTW - you're the first club member to be sporting a new VP with a light relic job on it. Play it proud, don't let the little dings in life get you down. And welcome to the club .

That VP would make a really cool avatar (hint hint). :smug:
