There are basses, and there are Thunderbirds!
That's looking just about perfect, Michael. Congratulations, home ownership is filled with joy!

When choosing a bass, the logic chain I go through is...
Sound - it's gotta sound great and importantly not sound exactly like something I already have.
Looks - Unique is cool, I don't like seeing everybody playing the exact same thing I play.
Playability - has to be a smooth player that doesn't make me work much harder than I already do.
Quality - I usually avoid shoddy work and cheap hardware.
Balance - must behave reasonably well sitting or standing, but I can adjust to a degree.
Resale value - because eventually I may have to let it go, I'd like to not take a beating when I sell.
Price - gotta be a good or fair deal. Not looking for steals but not looking to be gouged either.
Brand - almost zero brand loyalty, I buy what I like regardless of who makes it.
Country of origin - can't think of a single bass I wouldn't buy because of where it's made.
Warranty - what's that? Never bothered to send in a warranty card or make a claim.
Try before I buy - Only necessary with MIM and MIA Fenders which are either great or duds.
Color or wood selections - can't think of a color or wood I wouldn't take.
PS - to stay in good graces with @kat888 I obviously would have no tort as my number one criteria.![]()
Jeff, you don't have the legs for outfit and you know it!
Wiring question for the group:
I installed a set of T-Bird pickups in a 7ender Blacktop bass. VErything woks but when both volumes are turned all the way down, I still get a low signal. No buzzing or crackling? Anyone have a guess as to what I did wrong?
I opened up my T-Bird and tried to copy that wiring. Here is a pic of the 7ender wiring:

Most of the used Epi EB-3's, throughout Ontario... at least on Kijiji... are priced ridiculously high! But they can be found for a price that negates it not being a WANT bass. That is a very complicated algorithm. Mine is more along the lines of:
WANT!
Money?
BUY!
Considering the number I see that generate a want I have a good ability to discern the difference between want and WANT.
Still working on determining the status of that blonde RD artist... I have tried an SG and an Epi EB-3. Both are nice, but don't fulfill a WANT for me. Looking at a beautiful 5 string Ibanez - blue with quilted maple top. Keep thinking that could be an office bass (once I nail down the financing so that I can have an office). I haven't seen a new Gibson bird in the wild yet; don't know what that will generate. And a Ric is a want - I think that might be a milestone bass; perhaps when I sell this company.
Just did a quick check on google - if I'm understanding it correctly, caps in parallel are additive. So if you had two .022uf caps in parallel it would be about the same as using a single .047uf cap (actual would be .044uf). So I'm guessing the Gibson factory must have been out of .047uf caps that day and just doubled up, or possibly some bean counter viewed only stocking one size cap as a simplification and cost reduction method (until he figured out the additional labor involved).
I'll get creative. Besides, you're coming with me. You can help me out in that department. Michael, what do you think?
I'm sure I'll find something for you to do... There is still a position for a pool guy available...![]()
I think the milestone for a Ric should be the first anniversary of your new business...![]()
Ah, young Padawan, let's start your training in entrepreneurship.
(With apologies to the underpants gnomes)
Phase 1 - start up - you use your time and money trying to get things moving
Phase 2 - financing - finally, it stops costing you to work
Phase 3 - operating - you work for half of what you would make somewhere (anywhere) else
Phase 4 - sell - big payday; party time.
So, entrepreneurship takes a special kind of individual - one who is mentally ill - but has the vision to see that payday.
Hey, I'm just trying to help you get a Ric sooner, rather than later. Cut down to two meals a day or somethin', how you get the money ain't my problem... as long as it's not my money you're taking... But 1 year anniversary seems better than that long wait to Phase 4Ah, young Padawan, let's start your training in entrepreneurship.

This all applies to the young one except for one factor. I don't think he's mentally ill.
We can fix that though.
You're probably wrong about that first part. This all applies to the young one except for one factor. I don't think he's mentally ill.

.... for now....But the Ric is a want, not a WANT else I would have one already.
We knowI'm wrong about a lot of things.
