On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious was the hospitalization? How are you now?

Andy is still at the hospital, but seems to be feeling better.

I won't elaborate about Andy's condition, as it is not for me to tell.

I sent him a message on behalf of the group with best wishes for a speedy recovery...

Hey everyone!! Thank you for the concern and well wishes!! I finally caught up with the thread, even the messed up page issue!

I finally came home from the hospital this afternoon around 1:30 PM. Apparently I had complications from my recent prostate surgery. I will spare you all of the details but I was in a LOT of pain (Of course I was or else I wouldn't go to the emergency room because men are stubborn that way) and after the second trip to the ER was admitted for "observation". I have now completed my first ever hospital stay, which was a pretty good run for an old fv<& with my history of "fun". Anyhow, I am happy to be home and back amongst the family here!

I have an older Epi T-bird (bolt-on) body and the front/back center raised strip is made up of 2 separate shallow pieces glued to the single slab. A few different ways to get that 'look' and also create a deeper center section for neck/pu routes.

The D Bird has tapered "wings" as well, although I assume the body is CNC'd from a full body blank since it's a bolt on rather than neck through.

I love the input jack in the body like that. Makes so much sense.

When the "Classic" first came out I had one to review and keep for about 6 months before sending it to a friend in Germany, overall it best equates to a post '2000 Gibson except for the neck profile, which is slightly flatter and reminds me a bit of a '76. The body is modified with a greater lower 'bout cut and is thin like a Gibson, the headstock is small as are the tuners - These are really nice, they play well, have a more contemporary tone and are a very solid value.
I have a new Vintage Pro, first, it shares nothing with the Classic other than looking like a Thunderbird, the body is thicker, and shaped slightly different, headstock is larger of course, for me the neck is noticeably different, much thicker front to back. The pickups and hardware are of course meant to be like an early '60s issue Bird, tonally it's close to a couple of 'Bird that I have with Mike Lull '63 Spec pickups. Again, a very nice bass, quite different from the Classic.

With the Classic and the Vintage being so different it seems to me that there is room for both in the Epi aviary. There was talk that the Classic was being replaced by the Vintage. Do we know if this is the case?

Not even close to being as big an issue as with some basses. Not ideal design-wise but well worth go-arounds/fixes to make them playable.

Yes, and that's what sets it apart. The wings are attached to the neck-thru body with V joints and as you note are tapered thinner from the joint to the edge. Details that were never carried over into the many iterations since.
