Side note: I think Tom Sawyer has the best intro to a rock song bar none. Sadly, once Geddy starts singing, I punch up another radio station. :vomit:

Musical taste is individual. I really don't know how Rolling Stone can claim to have any system to rank worst or best songs. At best it can be a list of songs that the author likes most or detests most. What they have managed is to produce a list of songs that, for good or ill, are iconic to the time. Which was really my point.

Sorry if I caused anyone discomfort with a choice for what is, in my opinion, a terrible song.

I appreciate that perspective. To music is not a job. It is a fun pursuit that is rather meditative as I learn something new or practice something I know. It keeps my joints moving which I hope will keep osteoarthritis for becoming a significant concern in my hands. And then there is the fun aspect of getting together with someone and making some noise together.

For me, I think money or pressure to perform would suck all the enjoyment out of it.

Far from it Larry. Trust me when I say there are far superior players running in my circles but it isn't all about chops. It's also about attitude, willingness to play well with others, appearance( yes make a good first impression) and playing what the song needs. Too many of the truly skilled players overplay. Others are primadonnas. I play ALOT, try to be humble and bring a positive vibe. I was fortunate enough to get a spot manning an open mic all last summer, nothing gets you up to speed like being thrown to the wolves. You want to play what? Nope. Don't know it but keep that fretboard pointed in my direction and I'll be up to speed by the second verse.
Fear not! Dive right in! Besides, you're the bass player, if you're sketchy on a certain part, just fake it, for a line or two, no one will notice.

Especially coming from a magazine that fabricates rape stories, destroys the lives of young Lacrosse players and never, ever gave Rush or Zeppelin the time of day. Like I'd value their opinions on anything.

Once you start getting paid the pressure does get ramped up. Now you're a Pro and you HAVE to deliver, but that wears off in time and it gets easier.

Rush is awesome in all aspects! They only ever did one bad song (Tai Shan on Hold Your Fire). An incredible record for over 40 years recording and performing. But that's OK. Not everyone recognizes their genius. :thumbsup:

1. It amuses me,
2. Stopping him is work, letting him go requires no effort
3. Give him enough rope...
