Thunderbird Club

I have an Ebony VP that I just put DR Silver Stars on (silver coated round wound similar to Black Beauties). My next string set on this bass will be Cobalt Flats. The stock strings had too much zing and finger noise for me. The DR SS strings took care of that problem but also reeled in a bit too much of the grind growl that I liked in the stock strings plus the tension seems low. My experience with Cobalts (Rounds) on other basses is that they are very bright, loud, gritty and high tension. If the flats can keep the brightness in check but still deliver on the grit and grind they will be a perfect match for me.
FWIW I play finger style, no pick yet, maybe someday.
I love the Cobalt flats on my Gretsch so much, I had to get a set for the BlueBird. I haven't put 'em on yet, but I'm lookin' forward to it:thumbsup:

Vince? I'm not sure he was aware that there was a box to think inside of to begin with. And that leads to thinking at all. Which is another question. Thinking can lead to strained neurons and stuff like that. Is it worth the risk?
Is that why I have a weird akpjdfng twitch? Strained askjdgn neurons .... sorry that weird twitch as[odghj kicked in jknadg again.

Hey Fix - good morning!
If you get a chance I'd consider it a huge favor if you could let me know the uncut total length of both the Cobalt flat G string and D string. The Eppi VP has a massive headstock, large diameter tuning pegs and the set back tail piece. Consequently it requires a very long G and D string (about 50" IIRC) to successfully get three wraps on the peg.

You can count on it my friend:thumbsup:

I'm exactly the opposite. I love it when things get turned inside out, reworked, done in a fresh, new way. But, I still tell those darn kids to get offa my lawn!

I always appreciate a novel take on a song. It isn't always good, but often interesting. I keep a Spotify playlist of interesting (to me) remakes that I find.

That's funny. My dog thinks that if he's not looking at me I can't see him.....
