I like that things stay pretty civil in this club. I also like that we have different things we are into

Matter of fact, there's nothing I dislike more than a favorite band doing a live performance of its own music and not staying close to the studio recording. I mean, you can throw in a, "Does anybody remember laughter?" here and there but please don't add weird instruments and solos... not a fan.

Didn't quite know what to expect live, but they really kicked a**.

This tour they played their Metallica set, but they also tour with their own material, as they've made 8 albums - Mostly own material.

I agree, I don't like when the band differs from the studio version too much, and I wouldn't go a festival just to see Apocalyptica. But if they were playing a small theatre near me, I'd definitely try to get tickets. I think seeing them in a theatre would be much cooler.

And that is exactly what they played last night...

We were less than 10 meters from the stage and sound was amazing - You could easily tell the four cellos from each other. :)

Also I wasn't expecting to see them jump all over the stage and headbanging while playing their cellos.

Vince? I'm not sure he was aware that there was a box to think inside of to begin with. And that leads to thinking at all. Which is another question. Thinking can lead to strained neurons and stuff like that. Is it worth the risk?

I like Cobalt Flats on a Thunderbird. Like every other string I have used, it needs some EQ on the mids to make sure it cuts if you have a thicket of guitars to deal with. Other than that, I'm really happy with them.

I'm exactly the opposite. I love it when things get turned inside out, reworked, done in a fresh, new way. But, I still tell those darn kids to get offa my lawn!

I have an Ebony VP that I just put DR Silver Stars on (silver coated round wound similar to Black Beauties). My next string set on this bass will be Cobalt Flats. The stock strings had too much zing and finger noise for me. The DR SS strings took care of that problem but also reeled in a bit too much of the grind growl that I liked in the stock strings plus the tension seems low. My experience with Cobalts (Rounds) on other basses is that they are very bright, loud, gritty and high tension. If the flats can keep the brightness in check but still deliver on the grit and grind they will be a perfect match for me.
FWIW I play finger style, no pick yet, maybe someday.
