Thunderbird Club

My first bass was only 2 years ago and I paid the princely sum of C$259.99 (approximately U$202). Yamaha produces a better instrument at a comparable price. There is no need to go to Chinese knock-offs of dubious quality.
Gotcha beat! I paid $50 for a Philippine Beatle bass copy in '66(in the Phillipines). I think it might have been made of balsa. It was my first bass and after I got my first EB3, I sold the thing for $100 and the guy was happy as a pig in:poop:.

Forgot to mention:the bridge(?)was a strip of brass-maybe-and I didn't wanna know what the nut was made of:eyebrow:

Something must be broken.. no posts in almost 2 hours. Time for gratuitous flock photo.

Your talent far exceeds your, at the moment, perceived low self esteem.

I don’t know about that, but I did manage to find some loops I thought I’d destroyed...and they’re kinda cool :)

Dude, you are definitely putting someone's child through college with all these gear purchases. :). Seriously though, I hear you on the recording thing. I prefer to get as much as I can "out of the box. "
It reduces processing power and keeps things tidy. John Ford referred to it as "Cutting with the camera."

I’m pretty good at layering tracks in Logic...I just feel like doing it out of the box, in real time is more organic and satisfying...if I survive :)

U$50 in 1966 is U$391 in current money...

I maintain that Yamaha offers spectacular value for basses. If only they offered a `bird-like bass.

As crappy as it may be, it could be a fun and cheap project bass... Like the color, though...

I'm certain it's made of the finest wood-like substance, the bridge is cast lead too!

That doesn't mean it's all bad, considering Dano basses/guitars are made out of masonite...

A cast lead bridge would help against neck dive! :)

But you know what - some new young player who is drawn to "unusual shaped" basses and can't afford more can rock it! :bassist: My first bass was a lot worse I'm sure!

This... :)

I finally got around to reading the offer this A.M. Do you think they'd take my'67 in trade? I'll pay the shipping.
I went back to the Ali Express site. I think maybe I could get them to make my dream axe: a double neck 12 string Firebird/5 string Tbird w/ the bass on the lower half. Ecstasy! Oh,and the whole thing should be chrome!-or a chrome-like substance.:roflmao:
