I told myself I'd learn how to play with a pic once I got my Eppi VP, Thunderbirds just sound so right with a pic, but being the lazy sod that I am it ain't happened yet. I'm thinking formal lessons will be required, it just seems so awakard every time I try it, which is odd considering I play guitar with a pic.

Pick or fingers? I say whatever works for you, one is not "better" than the other. John Entwistle played with his fingers and is considered one of the best. Paul McCartney played with a pick and is considered one of the best.
I can play bass with fingers when needed, but I play bass with a pick because I like how it sounds and feels. Same with acoustic guitar.

I have that session on DVD, I love Skynyrd, they were such an awesome band. They seem to get a lot of bad press, I can never see why for the life of me. Ronnie ruled them like Gengis Khan by all accounts but they all pulled their weight, not a bad musician amongst them. Leon in particular was good, his bass playing is just perfect for them, by the time they recorded street survivors he was up there with the very best IMO

While today's Skynyrd is a mere shadow of its former self, I'm happy to be able to finally see them this summer with tickets for their Friday, August 10th show. The wife will sit this one out but all three kids wanted to go to see these legends and I'm happy to share this experience with them.
I was lucky enough to see the original Skynyrd in the Reading festival if my memory serves me, they were brilliant, I'd never heard a live sound like it. I also went to see the new band about 5 years ago and to be fair they still put on a good show and I managed to catch one of Garry Rossingtons plecs he flicked into the crowd after playing Simple man, one of my favourite tracks
Skynerd was great. Unfortunately, after the plane crash, there was an attempt to milk the brand equity that the band had built. Skynerd continues to tour, but I won't see them as it isn't really Skynerd.
You'll enjoy it, they are really good, the only bit I didn't like was that Ronnie's brother used all of his words from the live album which seemed a little daft
Well no the old Skynyrd were well and truly killed off in that crash as the entity they were, how could they be after losing Ronnie. They new version is still entertaining to see live, Ricky Medlock alone is worth seeing
Whether or not they should be called Lynyrd Skynyrd or not I don't care, I'd go and see them again any day of the week, they still have that real entertainment value the original band had and the spirit is still there, to me that's enoughI can't remember itRonnie's brother?!
