There's one in the classifieds here for $500, if I remember right. It's insane that nobody has picked it up. It's in Maryland. Maybe there's some kind of weird border control that makes it difficult.
While we are on the subject of ACC stacks and Thunderbirds, I played a show with the cover band on Wednesday. Which meant dragging out the Grexa Acoustic 360M and setting it up, mostly because I can. It wasn't a loud gig, and it wasn't a place that I could let it rip so much. The little Carvin would probably have been sufficient, but it just doesn't fill the visual or sonic space in the same way as an Acoustic 360. There was some kind of weirdness going on in a cable on my pedal board, unbeknownst to me. The effect was that the sound was a bit muted. No problem. The amp has a volume knob. Early in the show, the cable made full connection and the amp sounded just like it was supposed to sound. Really fvcking loud! So, I kicked the button on the wireless receiver to mute things, readjusted, and came back in at an appropriate volume. One of the guitarists mentioned afterwards that he enjoyed hearing what the 'Bird and that amp sounded like, as they were meant to sound. He still thinks I need a smaller amp, and that it should be a little on the boutique side of things. My solution is to find gigs in larger venues.

Yes, I checked out the back rout options and you can specify the number of holes for pots etc, ie 1 x V + side mount jack or 1 x V + front mount jack. The future configuration has now congealed in my mind.

I'm a twiddler. I move 'em around for different things... but my "go-to" is, neck pup on 10 & bridge pup about 8.
It s a 1990 オービル ギブソン -- 'Ōbiru Gibson' aka Orville -- Japanese built Gibson. Apparently the white ones are uncommon. It's a stunningly nice bass and while it may seem that I'm messing about with it, the only non-reversible modification I've made is screwing down the pickup ring. The stock pickups didn't move me, and it has a Thunderbucker 66S. Despite having nothing against the 3 point, it's probably going to get a Hipshot Truetone shortly.

I would need to be gigging for that. I am trying to find a guitarist to work with. There was one fellow I was talking to but he went quiet and I'm not inclined to chase people.

Guitarists are usually a dime a dozen. Decent guitarists aren't so easy to come by. Oh, well. Drummers are even harder to come by. That's why I became one - being lousy is no barrier to being in demand.

You can still soak it in coffee. I'm not sure tea would have the same effect. If it did, it would take longer. As one of those people with refined tastes who drinks tea and talks funny, you may not routinely have left-over coffee to soak it in. The Mod should take up coffee drinking for the cause. He's got to earn trucker jacket space somehow.

Kat - I'm sure you mentioned it but I must have missed it, are you doing a Warmoth build? Great supplier of quality parts, it can get a little spendy if you go hog wild on options, but if you play it smart you can come out of it with a very nice bass at a reasonable cost. Here's a thread I started on Warmoth builds quite a while ago, some very neat ideas showcased in the thread, check it out...
