Thunderbird Club

I tried using a pick on one of my first basses. Not only did it sound terrible but then I had to rake up all those wood splinters.:whistle::bag:
Good point! Maybe you should try one of these...

Should work good for this type of music...

Not Handel but a few years ago we went to the Shrewsbury flower show, at the end of the day they have a concert and a fantastic fireworks display. The concert was by the Royal Artillery band and they played Tchaikovsky's 1812 but they brought with them 12 large cannons. That concert was ....ing awesome!

I completely agree! The few times I've noodled around with a pick on my Thunderbirds I've noticed right away how much more they come to life, it's really a Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde type thing. And I suspect the VP is even more so. I really want to pick up the pick but it just never feels right and completely destroys my ability to play. I'm almost of the mind that I just need to take pick lessons from a good instructor, it just isn't coming together on my own.

I'm not a finesse player - so I kind of bash at the strings not too gently, glancing blows off of the pickup cover count as tone!

Don't think many Stags were imported over here..
Probably right. I've seen a few and my dad had one in the early 1970's when I was a kid but it just seems like one of those cars that never got quite popular enough to create a following with the masses. A true collector might find more value in them because of their rarity but most of the true collector money going for British cars these days is being funneled into older Austin Healys, Jaguars and Aston Martins. The Triumphs and MGs are more of a working mans collector right now.

100/6s (and 4s) in great shape go for about 80 to 90k USD over here. 3000s for somewhat less...
Why is everything so much more expensive in Blighty?...
I have a theory, it's probably deeply flawed but I think it's an English trait in that "you have it, I want it and I'll outbid anyone to get it [or invade]". I don't mean that to sound as racist as it does, it's just an observation of the types that I get to see and I do realise it's not just the English or every one either :) Most nationalities would say "not cost effective, move on to the next" in my experience

Totally agree. Stags are a lot of car with that V8 but why compete with an American V8? Jensens (with the exception of the 440FF) seem to fall in that working man's category as well.

Ditto! The Ghia is one of my all time favorite affordable collector cars. The other being a TR6. Both are a blast to drive, great to look at, easy to maintain and going up in value. I expect their price to about double in the next 10 or 15 years. Get em while you can.
My Ghia is modified (lowered, suicide doors, shaved chrome & handles) so not a collector car. I’ll find some pics or take some new ones soon.

That's two votes for the Rock Masters, but you and Veronica both play picks and I don't. That could be significant difference in how the string sounds. Yes, I really need to learn how to play a pick on bass. I don't touch a guitar without one but on bass it just feels so foreign.
I'e always wanted to play with a pick but I am totally incompetent with one. I keep trying to figure it out but can't not be horrible with it.
