Thunderbird Club

NBD for me today, jus an acoustic, I've been hankering after one for eons now and been watching this on Ebay for weeks, it's a Hofner HA-B03, I decided to make a low offer last night and it was accepted so we went to fetch it this morning as it was only 30 miles away.

Anyone know anything about acoustic strings? I need some, don't want to play it after someone else, don't know where their fingers have been :poop::vomit: It's got roundwounds on it and they sound OK, informed info needed please :)

I've got black tapewounds on my Michael Kelly Dragonfly Fretless ABG. I think they are Rotosounds. I have had many compliments on the tone.

If you're looking for a really sweet sounding AE bass look no further than La Bella Black Tapewounds. It's probably about as close as you can get to an upright sound with a strap-on fretted bass. If you get the regular gauge set the strings will likely be too big for the nut grooves as well as the bridge peg holes. Go with a light gauge set and they should fit without modification. Happy NBD!
That's right they are large OD. I broke the nut on mine when I tried to push the tapewound E into the slot. Just a good reason to make a proper nut!

Its world cup time again, dont like soccer?, you still need to see this. Although the pain is evidently excruciating:facepalm: the commentary is fabulous. :roflmao:

LOL - I'm sure I'll take a ration of poop for this but that youtube clip encapsulates everything I detest about Soccer. Biggest bunch of high paid pansey ass drama queens in professional sports. Yes, it's a rough and tumble endurance sport with occasional legit and painful contact, but the "throw me a flag" drama queens have completely ruined the credibility of the game. Might be interesting if the refs reviewed "injury" replays after the game and required those obviously faking an injury to wear a tootoo in the next match. That way at least the fans would know who to laugh at when they're flopping around on the ground.

Actually, if I were head of the rules committee I'd implement a new rule - if your ass is hit so hard you feel the need to roll around on the ground looking for attention then they should (in the name of player safety) remove you from the game with no substitution for a minimum of 10 minutes and then allow you to return once the sideline doctor has released you to play again. That would change the entire dynamic (and strategy) of the game. Of course it'll eventually evolve into something nearly as rough as Rugby, but at least they'd be paid good bucks to fix all those injuries and the fans would actually get to see some blood with all those alligator tears. JMHO

 They are huge! Best bet is to play it low on your hip......kinda like a TBird
I had a MK5er, not as fancy as the Dragonfly. The sound was great but between the thickness of its body and the thickness of mine it just wasn't working out.;) Also the B was kinda weak compared to the others. I might invest in another ABG but it'll be a 4 string, maybe less deep.

As a former rugby player, I have minimal sympathy for those silly twits. I like certain teams who don't dive and run right through as much as possible. The US team generally plays like that. So do the Mexicans. I'll be rooting for Mexico this World Cup, as much for their usual lack of BS drama as anything. Which means they will all turn into a bunch of diving actors now, just to prove me wrong.
