I really liked them a lot up to "Road Food", after that not as much. Burton Cummings certainly could write some great songs and was no slouch on stage when I saw them in '76.

The Guess Who were a great band (no need for national modifiers there!). They produced a bunch of great songs and in their wake spawned several more great bands. It is still fun to hear Undun, and Guns, Guns, Guns. How many bands have covered American Woman...

I never saw the Guess who, but I have seen Burton Cumming on stage. AHEM! He and Randy Bachman are still playing. Randy does charity work - Takin Care of Christmas all proceeds go to a children's charity.

I lived in California for two years (technically still part of the US for those keeping score) and always made a habit of calling it Independence Day (rather than the generic 4th of July). I really like the Declaration of Independence. It is a very quotable (and angry) document. Of course it is - it is a bunch of revolutionaries giving their philosophy (the unalienable right to the pursuit of life liberty and happiness), declaring it their duty to overthrow the existing government, and listing their grievances.

In my opinion, the Declaration of Independence is a much better read than the Constitution. The Constitution is the Phantom Menace of political discourse - so much of it is a delineation of what each branch of government can (and must) do.

A question for the more technically minded, something that has bothered me for a while and I don't really know if it's even worth the bother of worrying about.

I've seen a few basses and guitars over the last few years where things like the control plate or the pick guard have been held in place using strong magnets. Given the sensitivity of pickups to small amounts of change in their field of sensitivity, won't the presence of magnets distort that field an change the tone of the pickup?

I can't speak for the tech aspects, but no more than I typically need access to an area underneath a pickguard... I'm thinkin' that's a solution without a problem. Those magnets are quite strong, but not infallible. I could see it flipping off & getting broken or cracked. Then yer out 60bux or whatever, because ya made something easily removable, that you'll hardly ever (IF ever) need to remove at all. If it were recessed, like a control cavity cover, it would probly be ok, but still...

Well yes that is the other side of it but actually handy if you need to change your PG mid song!!

I quite like things that have been neatly screwed (@Gaolee behave!) in place, again usually we tend to use stainless screws with a lower magnetic influence But to replace them with neodymium magnets seems to be an odd thing to do

Not wanting to go off on a non Tbird related tangent, just keep in mind (Biot-Savart) that the magnetic field intensity decays as a function of 1/X^3 where X=distance from magnet.

Unfortunately not a city organized one this year, but bikers will be bikers and show up anyway..
