Thunderbird Club

Quick question about pickup placement for those who have built or modded previously: When considering the neck pick up location on a 2014 Thunderbird, about 2 1/2 inches (6.5cm) from the end of the fretboard, if that pick up were a 1/2 closer to the bridge, (traditional J-Bass placement), would the tone be radically different? I understand there might be some difference but I am curious if there would be a noticeable difference? Thoughts?
IME - a 1/2" slide towards the bridge on a Humbucker neck pup will not make a significant difference in tone. A 1/2" slide towards the bridge on the bridge pup will make a noticeable difference. Keep in mind I've only built a few basses. JIO, Carlo and Christine may have better data.

Hell... I gotta leave something for the organ donor card...
Does it need to be big? :roflmao:

Just to save the inevitable ahems

Are these the Vintage Pro Pick Ups? If so, seems like someone here may want them.

I bet those ARE 760s! :wideyed:

Great opportunity!

I would really like those to have a known quantity to compare these Mojos with, no doubt by the time it ends they will be out of my price range

Not a real clue, Carlo is probably the one, he has that test bed bass, he may well have tried

Has anyone seen that "what did I buy?" thread? The GP here can be beyond belief, I think if it wasn't for you guts here I would be telling TB to fvck off tonight, how horrible do people need to be to each other?
Guts?? Guys!! :roflmao:

The OP got back on that thread with a lot of dignity and shut those trolls up in the best possible way, bless her :)

Some odds and sods that have been banging around in my head over the last couple of days since you started posting 80s tunes, some good, some not so :)
DEVO!
Dig the Jam.
Ultravox tune... 80s nuclear destruction theme...
Visage and Mark King not loading this side of our pond.
We do the Tears tune, interesting, sort of, to play that one.
'Fingers, visceral as usual!

Nice little cross section of the time.
