Rory Summat? This guy?

Great bands on both sides, for sure. But very different sounds and shows. I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd open for the Who when Skynyrd's first album came out. Totally different bands, totally different music, but both of them blew us away.

And yeah, I was kidding about not knowing Rory last name. Rory is one of those I would give a lot to have seen in concert. Love his music. Especially when Gerry McAvoy was on bass.

Yes from Ontario. They did a kick-@55 version of Real Wild Child!

They were from Hamilton and were one of the bands that helped develop a burgeoning music scene in the city.​

I was a big Teenage Head fan in high school. I still listen to them. They had a notorious reputation that added to their popularity. They caused a riot at the Last Pogo concert in Toronto, caused a riot at Ontario Place that caused that venue to stop doing their live concert series, they were banned from high schools around the province after performances (including mine). Many of us coveted their T-shirts which read "F*ck the rest, Head's the best" (with the * replaced by a u)because people got sent home from school for wearing them.

Frankie Venom (singer) died about a decade ago. Even in death he courts controversy; a memorial statue of him was planned in his home town of Hamilton to honour his contribution to the development of a vibrant arts and music community. However many oppose the memorial and so a decade later, it still hasn't been done.

I am surprised by how long it took to get a reaction to that. Pineapple on pizza may just be more controversial than Fender vs. any other bass. But for the record - I like pineapple on pizza.

XTC had some a number of hits here. I' heard some of the Buzzcocks stuff but if you weren't into the punk scene, you probably never heard of them here.

It's funny. We don't want to be put in boxes, but we happily put others in a box. Like poor Pineapple. Pineapple is much more than a dessert. Goes great in salad, on pizzas, in iced tea, spaghetti...

A) How 'bout a cover the same shape as the headstock, 3 ply, blk/wht/blk... but it would hafta have something on there, That big blank chip would hafta be adorned with something for the eye. What is the Welsh word for "Custom"?

B) I think it would be beautiful if you could make one out of mahogany (again, same shape as the headstock), that color-matched the sides and back of the body. Considering the fragility, is there a way that could be done?

This is also a great example of what the Fixer was talking about. This band and their music was aimed straight at 12 year old girls. And yet, despite the fact that I was never a 12 year old girl, I love this song. It's a nearly perfect catchy pop song. I generally hate catchy pop songs. But I will listen to this over and over, and don't care what anyone thinks.

There's the overplayed "glue" pop songs that you can't get out of your ears and there's a well crafted, well delivered pop songs. I'd venture to post another but risk posting one you wouldn't care for - pop like every other music style/genre is ultimately subjective.

That song was one of the first songs I ever played on stage as a drummer. Why ease in when you can dive in at the Bun end?

Bun E. is still one of my favorite drummers. I first saw Cheap Trick on the Midnight Special, thought that dude was Teddy Roosevelt. Playing drums in a rock band. It was perfect. Between that and DEVO I had undergone a significant profound change in perspective at 17.

Growing up on the left coast, I was unaware of the controversy around Teenage Head. I bought one of their records in a used shop and thought “This is cool - and Canadian!”
