To anyone interested- I took a leap of faith, and ordered a set of the chrome Performance Music Co. pickups, and swapped them into my Classic Pro IV this afternoon. Still early on, but I'm impressed, especially at the price. Bridge pickup tone seems a lot more usable (thicker, and not honky/ thin, which I detest) now. I still need to install the pickup rings, after I rustle up some screws. Aesthetically, these look way better than the stock black pickups. I'll post pics, if you guys want, but they look like any other chrome TB pickups.

From the looks of it, you don't need the rings like you would for "vintage" type remakes..

Nope, purely cosmetic, although, the pickups are really shallow... about half as thick as the stock Gibson pickups... and don't fill out the routes. The trim rings may help keep them from moving around too much.
My preference would be without, but I am likely in the minority and it is your bass and thus your choice.
Same here, they look great with that fit!
I used Walther, but Wendy's choice is still a nice one.

I agree to a certain extent. The pickups don't fill out the routes completely, so there is some wiggle room around the perimeter. Having the trim rings tightens that gap.

I think I may split the difference, and apply the trim rings with double-sided tape, at least for now. Easily reversible.
Yup, that's what I did on mine. You can dremmel the screws and cyano the heads to the ring. works well..
According to the dimensions I've seen posted, no. I rest my thumb on the P pup but I could add the tug bar from the 67. Hmm.
So sad to see that today. Her voice is iconic. On a brighter note, we had the pleasure to see and hear Mavis Staples a couple months back. I f***ed with it some more later. Problem: when you turn off the POG, you get the "flat" signal through both amps-with the effect(phaser in my case)still going through the second amp. To "kill" it you'd have to step on both at the same time-or close, so it would depend on whether that bothered you. I thought about the Y-cord idea and I'll try that later. That would simplify the schlepping factor.. The 2 channels of the valve/tube amp should work, esp. if they're EQed differently. I might try that-if I can get to my 3 channel Peavey keyboard amp. A)It's buried, B)It's heavy-typical Peavey, built like a Sherman. <UPDATE> 1/2 hour later-tried the Y-cord. It'll work, but same problem of "killing" both-or leaving the effect(phaser)on. As stated, the KB-300's buried, but your 2 channel ____ amp should work very well, esp. w/ separate EQ.
