It took some time to grow on me, but this Epi T-Bird is becoming my #1 bass. It was $349 new, and I added a Hipshot bridge, La Bella flats, and a custom aluminum pickguard. I'm amazed at how good it sounds and the variety of tones I can get from it. It sounds better than all my other basses, regardless of their cost or brand name. I like to set the neck pickup on full, the tone at slightly less than half, then slowly turn up the bridge pickup until I hit the sweet spot where this bass just sings. It took some getting used to, and I admit to being skeptical of it at first. The super thin neck felt strange compared to my Fender P. And then there's the long reach to the lower frets. But after a few days of playing it, all the problems just disappeared and its my best sounding and easiest to play bass! How can a bass this cheap be so good? What's the secret?

We do the same stuff everywhere...we have 3 records and do our stuff with a healthy amount of rockabilly, blues and old country stuff, usually a bit revved up

These things need to come with a hinged neck that locks in the open or closed position.

I know! It's the only bass I've owned, but I've played others, and I just love the Epi. I'm sure there are basses I'd love more, but for the price, this thing is stupidly awesome.

Cases seem to be the bane of the Tbird's existence, never mind an ATA-spec case. Grrr... Do the big names all have custom cases or what?

WT7? I guess you could make something out of it. It would be Honduran mahogany, you could do a patch where they were gonna put the angled P pup, your favorite bridge and tuners and, of course, a nice, shiny bridge cover. But I don't have the ability to salvage it.

I could, but it will probably get bid up too high.

Well that IS a bolt on neck. If you really wanted to you could take the neck off....

Sounds pretty legit for the high school circuit back then. My guitar plying buddy and I would have been watching in awe; we were still in jr. high then.

This was in FL from Key West to Pensacola. We would have kept going but we ran outta places to play.

Check out Kent Custom Cases(no, I don't have one-yet)[not affiliated]. They look good.
