Is there any specific magic to a 'kill switch' on a bass? In other words, can I just use a simple on-off toggle switch or do I need some multi stage super secret squirrel switch? I'm thinking that, since I'm going to be messing around with this new project, I should include the nice-to-haves
Lately yes. It needs some attention to the electronics so it mostly just hangs around and looks pretty.
I can neither confirm nor deny anything.
IDK how well it hangs around, but it has the "look pretty" thing down.
I had good success shaving down a Squier P neck to 1.5” using mostly a bench top combo belt/disc sander. I did have replace the side dots, but that’s easy. Might be worth a try.

Hell thats not that wide. My P-Bass is 1-3/4 (1.75)”Yeah, it's definitely P-bass width 1.68" but that's not that big a deal. I'll swap necks and if that makes me happy, I'll rout & install the PJ pups and if that continues to make me happy, then I'll bewhile I
I agree. Just the other day I told my daughter to keep her piano skills up so she can play key bass when it’s required. It’s a fact of life in pop music.Permit me a"rant". The bass lines on the previous songs were just that:lines. As bassists we often hose ourselves. The Ox, JPJ, Sir Paul, Jamerson, et al. They played lines or patterns, not droning tonic 1/8th notes. Even playing the root in time with the bass drum[boom,boom-boom]. I have been watching(late night)a bunch of re-broadcasts of mostly UK festivals. Many of the bands use a keyboard player holding down the root with the left hand and a chord-or moving line-in the right, thus eliminating the need for a bassist playing one note at a time. If you're doing covers and that's what the original bass part is, that's fine. I've been playing bass since 1967(still trying to get it right), and to me the most interesting bass parts do something. With economics being what they are(suck), bands and/or venues are cutting expenses-at least in S.FL-and I don't want to be eliminated. BTW, if it comes down to it, I play just enuff keyboard and sing sufficiently to keep working, but I wanna play my TBirds."Rant" over. Now back to our regularly scheduled car, food and BASS talk. Definitely not unplayable! Like I said, I can easily play thick necks, just not what I was looking for with this particular one. I have my plans all laid out for this bass.....
The hardest part was stripping off the poly finish. I got the reshaping done in an afternoon, put a couple of coats of tung oil on and had it bolted on/strung up the next day.I've got a perfectly good and usable neck on the SB-2
I'd likely end up shaving it down too far and ruining it. I'm not graduating to major wood reshaping just yet. If I decide to go all the way with this and turn this Tbird into a PJ, this will be my first routing job on a bass. I'm not too worried about the precision of my routing job on the wood as I'll be creating a cover out of PG material that will go over the pup area to hide the old pup holes. I'm not sure if I'll fill in the old holes and then rout or just rout out the material, as needed, to fit the new pups.... hmmmm....
They're not passive but it would mean no routing!
