No, just active. I'm not looking to get the Gibby sound, I'm specifically wanting a PJ config for this one. Those EMGs would let me do it without routing... but they'd be active... which isn't the worst thing in the world, really

We went when I was a kid, but had run out of time to actually go to the bottom (you could in the 60s). I was so bummed.
It's on my list for next visit out west.

My white Gibson TBird is a chunky 1-5/8” and very comfortable.

What year is your white Gibson? If you said, I don't remember.

Yeah, it's definitely P-bass width 1.68" but that's not that big a deal. I'll swap necks and if that makes me happy, I'll rout & install the PJ pups and if that continues to make me happy, then I'll be while I

I don't know that you can do a neck swap without altering the neck pocket. The Bird is a 20 fret neck and I believe the SB-2 is 21 fret.

Madrid, New Mexico is a thriving metropolis of about 200 hardy souls, according to the always reliable internet. That's on par with Blacklick, Ohio, the closet town when I was a kid. It looks like you will be going well north of Roswell. We have already discussed that place, so you don't have to go there anyway.

Will you be stopping in Santa Fe or Taos? Those are places I haven't been but very much want to get to.

I thought about selling my EB-2 off and on. It never happened, and I'm grateful it never happened.

It looks like you will be going well north of Roswell. We have already discussed that place, so you don't have to go there anyway.

Don't get me wrong, it's GORGEOUS drool but as soon as I picked it up by the neck, I knew that was the end of the love affair. It's got a neck that feels nearly as wide as my G&L L-2500 (that's a 5 stringer, for those of you that don't speak GandLese).
I will be pulling this and my G&L SB-2 (a PJ bass) apart and making a nice ThunderB-2 (trademarking that now!)

I thought it had the bigger neck. Sorry it's not to your liking.

Is there any specific magic to a 'kill switch' on a bass? In other words, can I just use a simple on-off toggle switch or do I need some multi stage super secret squirrel switch? I'm thinking that, since I'm going to be messing around with this new project, I should include the nice-to-haves

I have only used an on-off switch.

The good thing with those EMG's is the plug-and-play connectors make it super easy to swap pickups if you feel so inclined.

I think the only TB passive pickups that EMG make are humbuckers.

Been there. It sounds cool to visit but once you have seen it, the novelty wears off very quickly.

Rumour is they only made two white ones in 2008… I’ve seen others listed as 2008 but the serial number always depicted 2006... I have been on the hunt for the other one or even Another one because the neck is sooooooo comfortable
