Thunderbird Club

Its awesome how you know the math instead of just saying “there’s a lot of energy”
Moving 58 kg a distance of 1 METRE in one second is a lot!
sorry, it was 47uFd not 470 (thought it seemed a little high), but it still 5.8 Joules so it's 5.8kg not 58..

BTW, "metre" c'est une derivacion de la langue Francaise. En Amerique "meter" c'est plus populaire..

Oh, crap , I just realized- it's Thunderbird Thursday(what's left of it)

Ok people I just saw (from a distance) the new Chev Silverado 2500 LTZ. It’s about to go (just has?) go on sale in Oz through Holden. It is converted locally by HSV to RHD.

Looked like this:

IMO it looked great, but huge - like a block of flats (housing units).

Not sure what value it represents in the US... but way overpriced here.
$134,995 AUD recommended retail price (RRP)...

Can’t remember if I showed off my new car - well it was new in May.

Plenty of room for Thunderbirds, amp and cabinet. Oh and all the various family requirements. 3.6lt V6 and 6speed auto, plenty of pep.:D

I also looked at the Equinox LTZ AWD which drove very well. My wife thought the interior ‘cheap’.

Mazda CX-5, boot too small for me. Back seat pretty tight as well

Subaru Outback, the dealer didnt bother contacting me. Didn’t feel like begging them to sell me a car, so put a line through it.

Ended up getting a NOS 2017 Holden Commodore SV6 wagon in “Son of a Gun” grey.

No. We never went for your trucks. Holden imported the C10/C20 in the 70s, and briefly the GMC 2500 diesel in the 2000’s but just for the NSW Ambulance service (from Brazil or Mexico I think).

Ford had the F100 in the 60s 70s 80s, and are selling the current F150 & F250, I think supplied in RHD.

Price includes local conversion and the cost is spread over few units. Very few I wager. Remember GM NA refuse to build them in RHD.

Interestingly, HSV are also converting RAM trucks; and the Camaro SS will be coming out from HSV soon. The Camaro will likely be near twice the price of the equivalent Mustang - which is factory RHD.

Fighting with one arm tied behind their back.

Edit: the pickups we generally buy are the Hilux, Ford Ranger, and the Colorado. Which are plenty big for our parking spots. :)
The big US style pickups are much bigger again and generally used by those towing horse floats, big boats and the like. Also some tradies, (builders, plumbers etc) that are doing well use them, prob the business owner gets one for himself.

but really know very little about Ghias. Is there a good year or a specific model that is more desirable than others?
Can I fit a Thunderbird hard case inside or do I have to buy a drop top for that?

Maybe this one could run with your Porsche’s on track days... I give you, the Volksrolet.

Although I know that conversion to RHD and shipping a huge vehicle isn't cheap, it seems like there is a big chunk of tax included there. Do you have some sort of gas guzzler tax?

Pick up trucks have grown over the past few decades to the point that they are gigantic now. So big that they no longer fit in a standard parking spot.

I appreciate that there is a need for some people such as contractors and farmers that need a truck, but it seems to me that too many people buy them as a daily driver. While I don't object to driving what you want, it seems like many of the people driving these things can't drive, are blind, and can't park.
