I had the same experience. I tried a Kellybird and although there was nothing wrong with it, it just didn't feel right to me. Not quite sure what it was, like the body was too thick.
Ah, yeah maybe that was it. Big bass...

Looks like somebody just extended a 4 string bridge and nobody gave it much thought. Epiphone doesn’t always knock it out of the park....
Even if it’s warped, you might be able to straighten it. There’s nothing to lose by trying![]()
That's what I already tried. 8^) The metal is too stretched, and where the warp is just wanders around.Put it in a vise with a piece of cardboard on each side and squeeze it back to flat...you might have to actually put a smaller piece of cardboard towards the center on the bottom side to use as a fulcrum of sorts.
Part of the problem with the bridge was that left hand-screw. It had a much larger shoulder; it spread the metal out, *and* it wasn't even perpendicular to the guitar body surface in. I can't tell if there was another hole there originally. Either Epi screwed up or someone really butchered replacing that screw. I suspect the latter, but who knows?
Or head over to Glasgow. That's the only place I can think of where people stay sober on Saturday night so they can fight better. Or maybe times have changed. My wife and I were there in the '80s, and we met Norman from Psycho. He was operating a B&B somewhere in Glasgow, and we stayed there. The street address was 13 something or another. We lived, but I'm scarred for life by the multiple and utterly uncoordinated plaid wallpaper, curtains, furniture, and everything else in the place. Plus, unlike anywhere else we stayed, there was hot water, but only hot. As in scalding. You can't make this stuff up. George Carlin was right - comedy is just noticing the goofy sh!t and reporting it to the public.Drive a couple of hours South to Newcastle on Friday or Saturday, no town I've ever been in party's harder. Do a pub crawl there and you'll have memories for a lifetime (assuming you can remember them).![]()
Yes. Painted black. That's exactly what's on the fretless 'Bird. On those Pro's they were brass
We are consistent around here. Or open minded. Or something. We went from Dude!!, Shoes!!!, to, Dude, where are the shoes!!!!!!!!!!![]()
If it was red or burst, I would be having GAS pains. Life and everything is all about the f-holes.Doing my usual window shopping while picking up some strings.
Not Bird related, but has anyone seen this type of Hofner? I totally dig it.

I've spend a couple of days and nights in and around Glasgow; we have dear friends there. I saw my first and so far only nuc sub near Largs, and an award-winning pipe and drum corps near downtown Glasgow. But they're in Spain while I'm in Scotland, so I'll save Glasgow for next trip.Or head over to Glasgow. Stop lending your books out!!!!So, if you were going to put a replacement bridge on a 5 string Bird, what would you use? A? B? Hipshot Super? Something else? Any specific brand you like or avoid?
I think the height will be fine on any decent adjustable bridge.
It's got the four holes, but I have no qualms about filling those and drilling something else- screws or posts.
Side note: Now my second copy of Erlewine's _Guitar Player Repair Guide_ has disappeared. I don't need one for the bridge work, but that book has taught me so much. Ugh. I know who lost the first copy, l but don't even recall loaning the second one out.
