Thunderbird Club

It was a fun show and a beautiful trip as the weather was very clear, in fact I can't recall a out there that I could see so far north from town. All of Vancouver Island and the northern portion of the Cascade Mountains were crystal clear and stunning.
Sound guys get a bad rap sometimes, but at this venue they really know what they're doing, the FOH gear is stacked up on either side of the stage and the board is some distance away out front, we arrive early and do a proper set up and sound check so the show goes off with no issues. I may have posted this before, it's from the same venue - just cell phone video taken from of center so the sound isn't the best

Nice. Good you had nice weather, too. Our NYE gig was outdoors in 72 degree temp. Unfortunately, the humidity was 90+ %. Coats and ties, sweatin' like crazy. Trade?

Looks even more packed than the Halloween show there!!!

I stayed in Seattle for the holidays and had some fun here, at Red Lounge.

buuuuuut, It would have been a hard choice in PA, because local band Crushwater was playing at the New Moon and they are pretty great.

However, The Metta Room is easily the best venue for shows, in PA. Happy to see your band consistently packing that house!

here's the prelim test for my version in pearl sparkle

the results are here:
CURRENT CATALDO

I mixed it from my recollection of the Junior I did in '74. Probably why I can't see sound as color.
That bass looks fantastic in that color. Dunno about the gold pickguard, though. Gold isn't my thing.

That would be a great big Nope, Mike!
Me and humidity are distant, one reason that I've never wanted to spend much time south of Washington State

Hey Chris!

It was a good show, the locals raise drinking to an entirely different level - professional! I picked up a nice, barely used 20 year SWR 6x10 and this was it's first outing, it totally crushed it compared to my GK cabs, I don't know that I've ever had stage sound like I did on NYE - I'm blown away by how good that cab sounds with a GK 700 and nothing else in the signal chain.
there's plenty of good players out in PA, every time I've had the chance to catch a local act they never fail to impress, "The Bangers" are one of my faves out there.

I have not been to the Red Lounge. Time for a field trip.

Wow! Any chance we could get some sort of demo of that?

I went to Highschool with the singer/guitarist of The Bangers. We arent close pals. But he is close pals with some of my close pals. Heh. He's a really funny dude.

And yes, fun band!

What's their typical sound? And where did the name come from? I can't find that info anywhere.

A lot of their stuff is cleaner sounding and (by late 80's standards ) kind of hi-fi sounding. They can get dirty-ish but at least from my experience they are mostly clean, but not SWR clean. Even their all tube heads are not known for being as gritty like other tube heads. They also get quite loud. I think they were pretty conservative on their power ratings. I don't really know how exactly to explain their sound, but I like the way they sound. Maybe Roger can give his take on their sound??

As far as the name I have no clue. I always assumed it was either the name of the creator or creators.

Can’t wait to see how it turns out!
I haven't pulled the trigger and sent it yet. I am busy enabling myself, but it takes a little time to do it completely. This is a thoroughly irrational thing, which means it is necessary. It also means I have to agonize over it the required amount before doing what I was inevitably going to do. It might be a month or two before I can put up pictures of the soon to be Pinkbird.

As expected, the 4 piece rhythm section was squeezed(the 10 horns were tight too), therefore I couldn't play my TBird [the headstock woulda been in the drummers right ear]. Played my backup- 5quier VMJag SS:(
should try this next time..
