It sure looks like the same one.If that’s the one I think it is, it is originally red, and has had a headstock repair. It was for sale for a LONG time for a very stupid price.

The case kinda gives it away, but if I saw the front of headstock I could say for sure.... but it seems like it’s intentionally left out.It sure looks like the same one.
Shure GLXD16. I had to look it up. It has been reliable as a stone so far. It has had heavy and constant use since early 2015. I hope it lasts forever.
I don't want it half-assed. I absolutely can half ass things as well as anybody, being both a CroMagnon knuckle dragger and a genetic Appalachian. I can even do a credibly good 3/4 ass job for most things. This one boils down to time and motivation. I have projects that don't involve painting equipment I don't own and skills I would have to develop on the fly lined up, and it's worth it to pay somebody else about half the value of the 'Bird to get it painted.
[edit] Got pricing back. $650 or $800, depending. Ouch, but what the heck. What am I going to do, pay other bills? If I didn't blow the money on paint, I would probably blow more money on another bass guitar or something anyway. I was mostly good that way in 2018, so I have some dumb spending saved up for 2019.
Bad Mojo was $650. MJT was $799, which is really $800 for any practical purpose. MJT was a lot more thorough about pricing and what he was getting into. Bad Mojo replied about like it came from a list.Who were those quotes from? I think Bad Mojo would be around $500 for the refinish, still waiting to hear from RS Guitarworks. I will say, it may not really be worth it to refinish the Greco. Maybe if I can track down a worn down actual 60s II with like a headstock repair for a decent price, I'd drop the cash to have it refinished. On that note, if any of y'all know of someone looking to sell a II at a fair price...

Worth it or not is a different issue.
What's the NR? Very cool
Cardinal?
Looks like it to my eye!
Look into Mesa’s. Even their class D amps get rave reviews.Yeah, I plan on waiting until my flock solidifies (meaning I hold on to a Bird for longer than a few months before getting the next shiny new Bird), but I definitely see a refinish in my future. Gonna go the green (or possibly purple) route sort of like our Queen has on her Birds. I mean, if I'm going to refinish a Bird, I want to make sure everyone knows it.
Unrelated question, but I'm on an amp search after finding I'm unhappy with my Orange 4 Stroke. There's a sort of thudding-click sound I can't seem to EQ out, unless I dial back the compression knob, but then I can't get the full volume out of the amp with the compression set totally to off. Just one of the weird idiosyncrasies of the amp, I guess.
So, I'm looking for something that can approximate that mix of warmth and grind that I love with the compression turned off (but louder, obv). I'm in a "high energy rock band" that's loud and obnoxious, so I'm looking for another amp that fits that mold. Don't like Ampegs that much as they sound too bright to my ears. Any suggestions?
NICE!!Oh, and score! I just picked up a mislabeled used VP off of GC's site for $350! Guess that they didn't understand the difference between the various Pro iterations. I had one briefly that I really miss, and I really needed a good gigging bass now that all my other Birds are a bit higher dollar.
Would she fit in the standard Gibby case? It didn't come with a case, so I might have to spring for the Epi case, but at that price, I couldn't pass it up.

GK, Eden, Ashdown, Thunderfunk and Trace Elliot heads would all be in the warm loud range you're looking for. But I think of that bunch the GK will also dial in the grind. GK is a very popular amp among the Bird clan, it seems to really compliment the Gibson voicing.?....

Agreed. I'm a huge GK fan. It's all I use pretty much. Same for the Queen I believe.GK, Eden, Ashdown, Thunderfunk and Trace Elliot heads would all be in the warm loud range you're looking for. Looks like a fun time!
I bet it would be awesome, but I have no experience with the Fusions. What was your bad impression? How are the GK MB Fusion amps with warm grind? I would have never suspected that I'd be looking seriously into GK after a poor first impression, but I could totally see how they would work with TBs. I may need to reconsider.
I don't know why they said $600 + the additional $50 for metallic. Size perhaps? I am planning to strip all the hardware and electronics. Here's the price listing from Bad Mojo, were you having them strip it or do setup?

If you have the space and don't mind weight, vintage solid state can be loud, warm, and reliable. I'm partial to Acoustic Control amps, but old Peavey amps are similar in a lot of ways. The cabinet makes a huge difference. ACC folded horns are called muddy by some, but I find them perfect for what I want to sound like. Loud as FECK if you want them to be, but no louder than you need them to be. Plus, they are cheap for what they can do. The tradeoff is size and weight, which I personally don't mind a bit.I owned a D800+ for a while that I liked, but eventually moved on. However, I knew almost nothing about bass tone at the time, and I think that the weakest link in that chain (other than the bassist) was the Portaflex cabs I was running it through, as I couldn't get the amp to sound warm.
That said, I've started researching Mesas again, including the D800 or maybe even that new WD800. Or possibly going older and looking at an MPulse or Carbine. I also love the Big Block, but it's got those weird wattage/ohm limitations.
