So many "diet gurus" tell you various versions of "what you eat" matters. But in the end, just because it is a biological system, does not suspend the laws of physics. To lose weight, calories in must be less than calories expended. Going through all the "fad" diets, in the end, the ones that work have some form of calorie restriction involved. So, counting calories does work.

Having said that, many of the diets contain features that make them easier to attain that calorie restriction. For instance, bread, pasta and other carbohydrate rich foods are calorie dense (in addition to being delicious). High fat foods are calories dense as well (and fat is what makes protein taste good), however, they maintain the feeling of satiety longer. This is why the ketogenic diets and carbohydrate restriction diets are attractive (that and the bacon).

And then there is intermittent fasting which has some benefits on some disease biomarkers. But, improving blood chemistry results may or may not change actual disease risk. And, by limiting the hours in a day that you can eat, you are decreasing the opportunity to consume additional calories (your stomach has a finite volume).

Personally, I prefer to count calories and rather than restrict consumption, increase expenditures. By doing more, I can improve health status in a way that has been demonstrated to increase both the quantity and quality of life and the activities I choose are things I like doing anyway.
I dont listen to the many “Gurus” or the few. I do listem to my Doctors at The Virta Clinic.

Having been a diabetic for over ten years(type 2) i was shooting up five or six times a day, both long lasting amd sjort lastimg insulin, over a hundred units. I started reading a lot! Finally landed with Virta. Headed up by an MIT Doctor and the recomendation I recieved was fewer than 30g carb daily and betweet 16-19oz protein. I have tools to check my biomarkers and there is lits of support. With the help of my team i have been insulin free for over a year. Controled by food intake.

You are correct that what you eat matters. And about carbs vs fats. Also you are correct about ketogenics and the fact that the body can be converted to fueling itself on fats. However measuring callories is a rather old method because when I watch my carbs/protiens then watching calories becomes a moot marker.

took the words right out of my mouth....really lively around here when those three were around..

I'm not looking to add/replace anything. I was merely curious. 2200W sounds like Behringer territory; colour me skeptical. I suspect reality is somewhere in the 400-500W RMS range (which would be a solid cab). And going as low as 30Hz with a cab about the size of carry on luggage seems improbable. But, perhaps despite all this, they are solid cabs. Never seen one in the flesh as there don't seem to be any Canadian retailers.

There’s a ton of goofy workarounds to doctor the specs without technically lying. A tiny cab that can reproduce 30hz? Technically yes, but at such tiny levels you’d never actually hear them. And if you could, you’d quickly realize that 30hz blasting out of a bass cab isn’t desirable to you, your band mates or the sound person anyway! Most PA subs are high passed higher than that these days.
There was a boutique cab company a few years back that had the most comically overstated specs I’ve ever seen. And zero documentation to back up the alleged specs. Their claim was that current technology was incapable of measuring what their cabs could accomplish. They could eliminate room boundaries! They could overcome the inverse square law! Sure :)

Its unfortumate, carbs are absolutely addictive, i am challengimg myself to eat less than 20g carb a day. A challenge for sure.

Once I’m in the groove, I don’t mind as I tend to look and feel better. Usually takes a couple weeks. Staying there while on tour is my biggest challenge and one I failed at utterly for the past 6 months or so!

I have Pure Blues on my JC right now. I didn't like them at first, but they settled in nicely. They appear to have a lot of fundamental to them - boomy compared to everything else I have used. Just a huge bottom end (ahem) to them. They appear to have higher output than other strings as well; much easier to get some grind. Clipping lights light up after switching to that bass until gain is adjusted. The feel is great though. Not decided yet on how I feel about them (I go back and forth on liking/not liking) but others have said that they sound great and fit well with guitar. So maybe it is one of those things; alone they don't match what you want to hear but in a band context they are great?

I could picture Pure Blues strings on a JC. Makes sense to me!

I get that! In all my adult life I’ve had the ability to quickly lose or gain (mostly gain) crazy amounts of weight in short periods of time. Like 40-60lbs in either direction over about 6-12 months, depending on how aggressively ‘good’ or ‘bad’ I’m being. Honestly, if I can get back to riding 100 miles a week on the bike, the rest takes care of itself. I crave healthier, simpler foods. I won’t want to drink the night before a 50+ mile bike ride with folks that are fitter and faster than me. That’s a short term goal, at least. Back on the bike!

One thing I forgot. I used the Broughton during the New Years Eve show. It made a big difference. Even using the little Carvin, I didn't have to crank everything up to be heard, and the bass sounded full in a way that little amp usually does not. I was surprised that a filter would make an audible, if transparent difference.

I think we are on the same page here. And type II diabetes control is all about managing food (especially simple and complex carbohydrate) and resulting blood glucose levels - sounds like you are right on top of that. Intermittent fasting has shown benefits for type 2 diabetics as measured by HbA1C. That then gets extended to non-diabetics for whom the benefits may not be apparent or real.

Spend the time doing something you enjoy and it isn't like exercise! And all that time you are active, you are burning calories (and not eating). That is my approach. I have varying levels of success depending on other factors (available time and sports injuries).

Cool to hear that. It really is a handy piece of kit. Especially for me in my little studio apartment. Can really control the room. As crappy as it is.

True, when I said that mine's a sadistic little killer I wasn't joking, surely it was terrifying for the mouse.

Circle of life.

Yeah that documentary just struck me a different way.

Predator (the original) is the best movie I have ever seen about US Soldiers in Central America being hunted by an alien.

Lol. Happy Gilmore was the best movie about a failed hockey player that breaks up with his girlfriend, finds out his grandmothers house is being repossessed, and by chance becomes a pro golfer to win enough money to buy his grandmas house back.....

that I’ve Ever Seen.

If you’re specific enough no other movie can compete within that “category”

Simba was one wild cat, he liked jumping from our 3rd story apartment cause we wouldn't let him out the fire-escape.
This was back in the 70's. he'd eventually come back home.

I read that as if he left in the 70s and you are still expecting him back anytime.

These just got slapped onto one of my FSOs.....let's see..

Yes that is our own Scott @godofthunder59

So I can say I participated in the daily Bird of inspiration here are three heavy influances for me.

Anyone ever notice how there could be no one better to play in the next nosferatu movie. GEDDY looks like such a vampire.

Bird in Action: A friend let me know he put a snipet of a gig I played on youtube. Me and some old friends playing a few old songs from original bands we used to be in in 80's/early 90's. It was quick 3 song set as a pre-opener to the opener! Sounds like the early 90's to me!;)

Cool! I especially liked the middle song.

Lots of great bass players with thunderbirds post here, & lots of famous ones posted about :P

Tis the year i get both of mine up & running again - Stoked to have my Epiphone UnGothed bird finished :)

& on the side of Gear, I'm actually going through each to thin out the heard before moving out. Some guitars got eliminated, most of my amps are sticking around, My GK 400RB might not though - playing it extensively tonight to really decide.
