Thunderbird Club

reminds me of riding motorcycles in the street. Been puled in front of, turned in front of all kinds of things that'll kill a guy. In my circle we always said..."it doesn't matter who's right, your still dead!". Let that train ride on through.

Yep! I quickly started assuming half the people could not see me at all, and the other half would happily kill me if they thought they could get away with it. In over 20 years of biking, I only had one serious wreck and less than ten minor wrecks. Still too many, but I'm still alive and well (queue Jerry LaCroix vocals)!

take it you're not an NR fan huh?...;)

I have seen one or two that almost made me want one, but not a huge fan, no. Mainly I just never understood why they didn't give that bass its own name. It would make more sense to me if ithe design were a mirror image. I do enjoy messing with the NR lovers. 8^P

Maybe we should stick with RB (Real Bird) and NRB (Non {R-word of your choice} Bird).
Not a fan of the ‘real’ word in this context. Both are real, preference may differ.

Bit like a footy club. You can follow for 50 years but if you don’t agree with every move by the management / owner some will trot out the “not a real fan” diatribe. Pfft to that.

are you saying a Variac is basically a reostat?
although it can behave like one it's, not. it will not get warm because it's not a resistor like a rheostat. (well it will for different reasons)

It's an auto (one winding instead of 2 or more) transformer with an adjustable tap...

If memory serves, Eddie Van Halen's sound was hard for others to reproduce because he was using a Variac on his amps; setting them to about half line voltage.

I hear ya brother, I too have had way to many near get offs and way to many cagers not pay attention to what the heck they were doing. Changing lanes wanting my space etc. Had a couple that I caused, one in my driveway, the other I was volunteering at a Ironman and a girl(spectator) stepped right in front of me with her back towards me while we were on a running path. I had a professional photographer on my back and there was just no place to go. There were no humans injured in this accident but I did need a new helmet as i hit it pretty hard. Had to fight like hell to get the company kick in their insurance to recover all the broken parts.

It took a moment-or 2- to figure out "footy".
