Thunderbird Club

You are so right. That was the epitome of classic BOC before fame and fortune following Agents.

Saw them on that tour at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. Absolutely mind-blowing[1] concert- musically like the album but even more in your face. Incredible musicians and good showmen.

[1] Nevermind whatever potent substance (Indian temple hash has been suggested) was being burned in the balcony- we missed a bit of the concert because of that, just totally fried for a song or two.

Well, that's cool, but you really need to introduce them to something off "On Your Feet or On Your Knees". The *real* Blue Oyster Cult.

If you check the liner notes parts of that were recorded in Seattle at The Paramont - happy to say I was there, saw them at least 5 times. FWIW "Secret Treaties" is their best to my ears, all these years later and it's still a fave, especially ME262 and Astronomy.

That is a great band! I watched again with my daughter.

I saw GC Jnr his last visit to Oz and I noticed he is due back soon. (I think his wife is an Aussie ?)
Anyway, I enjoyed his bluesy stuff, the funky stuff - not so much. How would you say his set worked out this time around?

In the restaurant industry, they use what’s called an Ansul system for fire suppression. If it goes off, by state law they have to discard all food items. Everything. So one day our linen guy shows up looking like his dog just died. What’s wrong delivery guy? Yep, he accidentally triggered the system at one of his stops. His company had to write a sizable check.

We had a computer room (it’s called a data centre now lol) security system tech come on site and flick off the main breaker to the computer. That went well.... :banghead:

We also had Halon, now removed as it is banned in Australia - I think because it’s a hole in the ozone thing - anyway we had all the warnings about getting out off the post haste when the alarm went off lest we die. A year or two later they came back to strengthen the outer wall of the computer room as it would have been blown out around 20 metres if the halon had been released.
Of course, our work area was right outside that wall...

Wth. Do you guys have OSHA in OZ?

Never saw Blade Runner? A Ridley Scott/Harrison Ford classic. Also stared Sean Young and Mrs. Neil Young (Daryl Hannah). One of my all time favorites.
great watch.....talk about slight Japanese weirdness....a vision of Roppongi in the future.......way out there....makes you crave Ramen noodles..

Thunderbirds are go!

Sorry I couldn't help myself

We are Thunderbird Club. Lower your shields and surrender your basses. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.

I gander at this one once in a while. From Electric Guitars and Basses, by George Gruhn and Walter Carter...

Which tapes are you using? I love the sound of the Fender black tapes I’ve tried, but usually take em off because I have to play with such a light touch or they go wonky. Not a wide enough dynamic range on those for what I like. Curious if there are noticeably different tapes out there I should try
I should remember, but I don't! I think they are Rotos. They surprised me. I did not expect to like them.

I always like these descriptions. Never sure what they mean, but they are a joy to read.
If my wiring quirks make you happy, that is great! I think the colors of sound are perfectly normal. I am grateful sounds do not smell like anything. There was a poster in another thread who avoided the sound of a harpsichord because that sound smelled awful. I am happy with colors. Kat can translate.

I never knew about the odd/even serial number thing.
I could never figure out what the numbers were meant for. A Thunderbird II has one pickup? I guess since it's a humbucker, that means two coils. Maybe. And a Thunderbird IV has four coils. Sure, why not. But Firebirds? I'm really confused there. And why Roman numerals. Why not Arabic numerals like the rest of the world. Is this some kind of revisionist Eurocentric historicism sneaking out of the Gibson factory or something? Nah, couldn't be. That would at least be an explanation. Gibson logic usually requires suspension of disbelief.
