Thunderbird Club

I don't think I've posted this shot before, ( I don't get into my photobucket account that often) it's from a Seattle Pride event a couple years back.

Found this little gem from 2 summers ago and was in the local paper...the only thing going for me was I was rockin' the Tbird! :DView attachment 3350583

The guy sitting on the box is wearing rubber gloves. Bit creepy...

It was! That weekend I played 3 gigs in 24hrs.. probably never happen again. The kid in the red is a locally famous player who moved to Austin and was back in town. The band leader asked him to sit in for a couple songs. We were chatting after word and he says "is that a Thunderbird?" I say Yeah, but it's just the low model Epiphone", he says "yeah, but it's a Thunderbird!... Sweet!"

There is someone with taste!

Any recommendations for waterslide Thunderbird logos for the pickguard? I mentioned this to the luthier and he said to get one of those and he can apply it and apply a layer of nitro to seal it on. All I've been able to find is this, which may be fine:

Those look pretty nice Ken. I have a PG project in mind, may try them.

2 x Gibson Thunderbird Guitar Headstock Logo Vinyl Decal Sticker Various Colours | eBay

can't recall who in the club was telling me they were Epi logos but after looking very closely at both, I couldn't find the difference..
I think I have one left....will happily send if you want..

Oh, yeah, I can just see the Lyft driver picking up V with full band gear and dressed for the performance-in PA.:roflmao:
Speaking as a one time NYC cabbie, Veronica and gear would be fairly routine. I cannot say what an Uber driver around here sees on a regular basis, but I doubt there would be much of a stir.

Selling both, the '99 and the '06 wouldn't get me there!

I am being an environmentally friendly commuter now, I ride our Light Rail to downtown, the station is two miles from my house, my roomie drives me 3 days out 5 - I barely drive anymore, going to change my car insurance to by-the -mile. But yes, I wonder at the wisdom of owning two cars at this point in my life.
Wisdom is overrated.

Don't think you need to do much in the way of mental gymnastics to justify a second R84.

A brief rush of blood had me considering a pair of SDCs (basically for drum recording) plus a ribbon (Røde NTR) but my good senses have returned. LDCs are more versatile in limited circumstances ... and you don't have to bolt the capsules down before moving them.

Someone is always selling an NT2A on Gumtree, it's just a matter of waiting until they come along at the right price.
I like SDCs as drum overheads. That is about it. A pair of Avantone SDCs work fine and were cheap. I don't think I would ever use LDCs as drum overheads, but never say never.

I can see why using ribbons would also work well. It would be a different feel, but it would sound great.

I got 2 gold peel and stick TBirds from @LarryV, only used one. IDK if you can clear coat them.

Many of my very favorite records used ribbons on the overheads. It’s a thing :)

Imagine a Venn digaram where the circles don't intersect -- that's the mics I'd like and those I can afford atm.
