Thunderbird Club

On the relicing or roadworn look I sit firmly in the ‘it depends’ camp.

Not going to slam anyone that does it or likes it, but not sure I want it.

Even some Artist sig tribute guitars have relicing to match the Artists guitar straight from the factory.
I thought it was silly, but that specific Precision felt so good that it followed me home. It is on the heavy side, but that is ok. I de-reliced it a bit with black paint and a sharpie. The de-relicing has worn through, making it a re-reliced de-reliced reliced bass. It has ashtrays and a tug bar, which the factory thoughtlessly omitted. So it is full pose.

Yes. All Canadians hate Ottawa. And all Canadians hate Toronto. By the associative property, Ottawa and Toronto hate each other.

In hockey, not as much as Toronto and Montreal.

Thanks. I was wondering if the bloke in this article was justifying his investment or if it was really a thing.

Yes I have read that those are good. The reliced ones anyway, not heard of these re-reliced de-reliced reliced ones previously.

I'm with your Guitarist! I'd take an LP Gold Top loaded with cream P90s over a Firebird any day....
BRAND NEW GIBSON LES PAUL GOLD TOP "1989" NEW NEVER SOLD ! GOLD TOP
...yummm!

That said, if she's ever in the market for an LP at bargain pricing that knocks it outta the park look no further than one of these...

...I have one and I'd sell many of my basses before I'd off the LP Ultra II. To me, it's the Eppi TBird VP of the guitar world from a bang for the buck standpoint.

That’s pretty cool. I think Epi used those Shadow Nano pickups in a cool acoustic bass a year or so back.

Are all the Ultras I, II & III the same sort of setup?

(Btw not sure why I’m so interested... I don’t play guitar)

There is a certain amount of rivalry amoungst any two Ontario-based teams - such as the rivalry between the Toronto Argos and the Hamilton Tigercats (Canadian football, which is like American football, but complicated by the metric system). But like 99% of Canadians, I didn't even know that there was Rugby League here. His challenges far exceed any local rivalry. In professional lacrosse, of which at least 50% of the population is aware, tickets are dirt cheap. So as a business venture, start up sports leagues and their teams (and perhaps established leagues and teams for that matter) are more vanity projects than investments.

Why do you think that is? Where you play on each bass?
Both Thunderbucker 66S pickups (NR41 and Orville) are as shiny as they day they were born. The 66N in the JAEbird is not.

66N is an early ThunderBucker, tooling designed, machined, and cover stamped by Steve Soar from nickel silver, then polished. They oxidize but are easily restored with some Brasso or toothpaste

What engineers do when they can't buy what they need. Prototype:

That was before after market covers were available. I had sent an original cover to my former partner to do them but China Post lost it. They would have had the correct corner radius, unlike what's now in the marketplace. Damn metric system.

Test of the latest ThunderBucker. The 'WideFive' for up to 3 inch (19mm) string spread at the bridge. Original size four string can.

To bad.
I was just reading about him. Was never really familiar with his work. But it'll be something new for me to check out.

Strange character, he was. There’s a great documentary about him called “30th Century Man,” I believe. He was a bonifide pop star in the late 60’s, who went off the rails for more experimental music and lived most of his life as a recluse
