I tried the rubber ones. Didn't work well. Put on metal washers.
I used to use metal ones, I think I stopped because I was switching straps... I didn't have a strap I liked both (or all three) basses, and removing the metal washer became the answer for making that happen.
Of course, getting another strap would've worked also.

I used to really like chrome flatwounds but this time I'm going with the LaBella Gold flats.
Interesting, never heard of those.

How did those strings turn out?
Haven't tried La Bella gold flats, but I like a lot of their strings so may be worth a look.

GBass may have those on his 2014. I know he has gold strings on it.
I use Optima Gold round wounds on my Anniversary Bird. Look and sound awesome. Mellow top end, huge balls on the bottom end.

Maybe he'll chime in. I'm getting more interested in strings in my maturing years as a player.
But not my maturing years as a person. Lol. No... there are none of those.

Hey @GBassNorth , how did those flats pan out?
I did end up removing the Hellbourg rounds on the 2015 bird and installing Cobalt Flats. I was able to get a lower action with the Hellbourgs and they sounded nice but kinda run of the mill for premium grade strings. The Cobalts are warmer and punchier with just a tad less top end. When in doubt try Cobalt Flats out.

I have one of those too!
So, yeah, I got that goin' for me. :woot:
Yep, five years of sheer hell with a schizophrenic maniac depressant. That was 35 years ago, been happily remarried ever since.

I have 5 basses, each has its own strap that doesn't come off. If someone else plays one of my basses, it goes on over the head.

Ah shoot. Just attach the strap with lag bolts. It will never come off.

Well, the guitarist came by. He did not know any music theory, did not understand structure, and did not know how to count. He just wanted to play faster and shred lots of notes. It sounded kinda pentatonic. Kinda. I am not a great drummer, but there is not time to play and have a day job and be an unpaid music teacher. We were all beginners once needing some slack. But jeez. He said he took a music theory class and didn't like the circle of fifths and had trouble counting. It was not going to end well. It didn't end well. He got his chance and it was just a wasted hour. Ok, enough whining on my part.

As you are aware we are looking for a new singer. We have heard from four people. Three who supplied links so we can tell if they can sing in tune or not. The other *wrote* a few hundred words ... but was unable to offer us a preview. She prefers to 'live in the moment' and 'explore methods of maximising the potential interplay between all instruments' -- life is too short.

Another that won't end well. At least you are smart enough to bag it before wasting an hour explaining what a standard twelve bar is.
