Guess that belly cut on the back of the TBird will come in handy for you then.

Larry, could I get one more measurement? The thinest part of the bass bodies, middle to middle. Oh, also pickup spacing on the ss? I can give these to the luthier. Thank you.

Must have missed this post last night. I can get you P/Up spacing later today. On the SS, the body is a slab at 1 3/16" so there's no thinnest part. On the standard Gibson Tbird, the wings are tapered and the thickness is dependent on where you measure.

Are you going with a slab body(cheapest) or a raised center and tapered wings(spendy)?

I've seen lots of really cool ones but I have to hold back and just hope one of those Hamer's falls into my lap

Nah, you need to buy one now so the Hamer will have company when it arrives.

A friend of my parents' name was Alcock. Their son played rugby, which meant the name became Alcockandnoballs.

I used to catch the train with a lady named Greathead. I felt sorry for her teenage daughter.

For gratuitous bonus points... she worked for a meat company named Bush’s.

I was actually inquiring about the width of the body where, if sitting on you knee, from where your knee rests, straight up to where your knee would rest if the body was flipped over to make a reverse body style. If that makes sense.

Im probably going to do a 1-1/2" slab body but cutting down the outer dimensions, then adding a belly cut and arm bevel should keep the weight in check.

You're right. And I don't even have any birds at the moment. I've got a P and one of the flea Jazz basses. Lucked out on that flea jazz bass but I've always had a bird from the time I was a 7th grader. Anybody played any of the spector legend classic's with the bird body? They look sharp but have never come across one in store.

So I got up the local long and McQuade, they've got a used epi Thunderbird for about 419CAD before taxes. It's the neck through one with active pickups and a natural oil finish. I'd love to own this bass, but I've neither the reason to not the space for it. Can one of you guys please pick it up before I may be tempted to lighten the load of my wallet? ;)

Seriously, I've already got a parlor guitar because that's about all that can fit under my bed, and the way you can tuck your right arm onto that wing just above the bridge and it holds the neck at the perfect angle is just awesome.

A lot of people don’t like the sound of those active pickups, but I’ve tried a few in L&Ms and I liked them.
Of course the real test is how does it sound when you’re playing in a band setting?

Yes, the pickups are terrible, that's why I can't buy it ;)

At any rate, I'll always be checking into the TB club periodically, love the look, just can't justify another thing lying around.

No offense, but you need to figure out the quote thing... :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Your response should not be within the post you're inserting as a quote. ;)

@Dadagoboi has posted up the outline of the TBird bass here in the forum before. Perhaps he could post it again and you could use it to scale whatever size body you'd like.

I have a Dean by Rockbag gig bag that was long enuff for my 67 NR TBird(52"). Dean doesn't list it any more, Rockbag might.<Addendum> I also used a keyboard gig bag for a while. Hadda add padding and it was kinda unwieldy, but it worked. Had wheels at one end.

Google search only showed one result for Rockbag on Ebay with a June delivery from the Orient. How old is yours?
