I like the sound of Orange Amps (and I know that some hate it). But, how am I supposed to disturb the neighbours with only 15W?

2 EL 84s...it will (flick of a switch) go to 30 like my little Ashdown...part of the power output switching mechanism involves changing the 84's operation mode from pentode to triode which offers completely different tonal characteristics ......been running the spkr. output of these little bass amps into a UA OX power soak and then a Crown Microtech 1200 with different speaker configs......

Ectomorph. I'm just built like a nail, and not disposed to putting on weight. I'm having another run at the gym thing starting in a week. Lol. I tighten up, etc, but I've never gotten much past 150 lbs.

Give it a few years. I couldn’t get any heavier than 150 until I got into my fifties.

I've never posted such a lengthy description when searching for people to plug in with, but whatever stipulations I included are always ignored and the reply comes back - "we play metal covers and need a bass player asap - gigs are booked!" ...

Whatever "no mom jeans" mean I'm all for excluding them. My favorite line is "The music we are doing is very commercial, but at the same time quite experimental." ... I bet.

Thunderbird owner: I've got 2 tbirds and have played several others and I've never experienced neck dive on any of them.

*what the rest of the world seems to hear*: OMG Help!!!! I can't keep the headstock off the floor and my spine is engulfed in fire every second of every minute that this 38 pound monster hangs on my bloody, raw, disjointed and misshapen shoulder!!!!!! SAVE MY FROM THIS ALBATROSS!!!!!

Being dramatic? why, there's never any of that here.

Honestly, my PRO IV dives. It’s not dramatic or anything, and I did put a drop D on the E tuner which didn’t help. But it does dive a little.

The lower I strap it the better it hangs.

I'm not much of a gun slinger when it comes playing, in my case practicing standing up at home.
But out of the 4 basses, it's one of the Fenders that needs a little man handling.
But that's what being a bass player is all about. Just gotta show em whos boss.

Two Gibson TBirds and Two Epiphone TBirds, not a diver in the bunch. Actually never found a bird yet that couldn't keep its head up proud.

You mean 7w. 15 pentode, 7 faux triode or whatever they do. 15 is pushing 2xEL84s. If you found a way to get 30w of recognizable audio from 2xEL84s, it wouldn’t be for long. The meltdown would be spectacular.
About 10 years ago I designed and built a 7w single EL84. Only a couple of modern tube brands could hack it. Everything else had red screens, plates, or both; that looks cool but is sudden death waiting to happen soon.

you are correct sir...I was thinking of the Ashdown Little Bastard (which has 4 EL 84's, not 2) when writing..

I meant to note that would work, but ran down too many pig trails. AC30 was THE 30W EL84 amp.
Funny that the Euro designation won out for that tube(6BQ5) even here, but the US designation for the common 12A?7 tubes (ECC8?) reigns supreme.

72, just had my semi annual checkup and in excellent health. I'm of the opinion perfect weight is about 10 lbs more than you weighed when you graduated high school.

Few weeks ago with a friend's wife, she actually took the pic above in '77!

My apology is just cheeky- I agree that it's probably healthy to be on the scrawny side! My metabolism hasn't changed much since I was a kid I think.
I'm glad to see you're in such excellent health man, I hope to do as well.

In case we have some Who fans here in the TBird Club. I went to their show on Tuesday night for the kickoff of their North American Tour. So glad to be able to see these living legends perform and they put on a really great show. They finished their show with Baba O'Riley and a friendly hug between the two patriarchs. They sounded much like I expected... not quite as powerful as they once were but God bless them for still putting on a 2 hour event with full orchestra mixed in depending on the song. It was really heartwarming to see their affection for one another throughout the show as well.

Thanks; they sound really good. I was indecisive about seeing this farewell tour, having see one of the previous farewell tours. In the end I decided against because it is only Daltry and Twnsend IIRC. I went through the same with Deep Purple, and went because it was 60% of one of the better iterations of DP and I hadn't seen them before.

I passed on Queen with Adam Lambert. It is only Roger Taylor and Brian May. Deacon has retired and Freddie is gone. As good as he is, I knew that I would be disappointed that Lambert isn't Freddie. Instead I saw a Queen tribute that was fantastic.

3 Epis - two neck thru (Pro IV and VP), and one bolt on (TV Silver). It’s strange that the Pro does what it does but I still love it. Could be me, too.
