In case we have some Who fans here in the TBird Club. I went to their show on Tuesday night for the kickoff of their North American Tour. So glad to be able to see these living legends perform and they put on a really great show. They finished their show with Baba O'Riley and a friendly hug between the two patriarchs. They sounded much like I expected... not quite as powerful as they once were but God bless them for still putting on a 2 hour event with full orchestra mixed in depending on the song. It was really heartwarming to see their affection for one another throughout the show as well.

5’8” too. Using your logic, I only need to drop 25 lbs. Might be doable. Maybe I’ll start trying now. Won’t see a pic of me though unless I get lucky and can get a pose with Nikki and her bird when I see Silversun Pickups next month!

Funny that the Euro designation won out for that tube(6BQ5) even here, but the US designation for the common 12A?7 tubes (ECC8?) reigns supreme.

it has to do with who developed the tube originally. our beloved 6L6 (although originally designed in UK but sold the license to RCA) is known as KT77 (kinkless tetrode) in Europe. Their EL-34 is known as 6CA7 over here....12 series tubes (X7, T7 and so on) were developed in the late 40's by RCA..

Had a good session last night. Played with a new guitarist and was able to get the drummer from the last show I played, the one that Jeff was at, to come out. Somehow I was able to convince them that I'm a good bassist. The drummer said, "You are a rock-solid bassist." And the guitarist complimented my tone a lot. I was playing through my Darkglass AO into a GK head and Hartke 410. He said, "Your tone is kinda the balls."

For a long time, I always saw that lovely little pentode as the 6BQ5. Like for 2/3 of my life. But the past 20 years, it's been 99% EL84. Not sure if that's the internet influence WRT what you mentioned, or what. I knew the history of all the others you mentioned, but never knew (til just now) that the EL84 was developed by Mullard / Phillips. I ran into 6BQ5s in the 60s all over the place in radios, stereo amps, Kalamazoo guitar amps, etc. Apparently Watkins introduced it to the guitar amp world at large.

Don't worry. When you hit your late 50s, gaining weight becomes easy, even if you were an ectomorph before that.
