Thunderbird Club

Gooky stuff on hands isn't an issue. It's the evil smells that organic chemistry is all about that would have ended my pre-med career, had it ever started in the first place.

That's what hoods are for. The kind that go over the workareas, with exhaust fans. Not Klan hoods, not sweatshirt hoods, not thugs.

I love how into it the orchestral people are. I love Rush and have no problem with Geddy's voice. I also think he's a great bassist, especially playing what he does while singing.
I'm in awe of his ability, his musicianship, and pretty much everything about him. He even seems like a guy you would love to hang out with and have around. If there was a way to be 10% as good as he is, it would be a blessing. I still can't stand his voice and don't much care for Rush overall.

Oh hell yeah. I would absolutely love to have a beer with Geddy.

Does your Epiphone not come with the Grover tuners that the Gibsons do?

What ever these are.

See how the D-string plastic spacer/ring is squashed? It's inevitable on the MIC crap. You can buy a set of these on eBay or Amazon from China for nothing ... and that's what they are worth.

That's what's on current Gibson Thunderbirds. I'm not sure if the handles are exactly the same, but the machines are. That's the location of the current tuner set screws. On the '91, the screws were offset to about 7:30 toward the center of the headstock.
They look similar, but the Gibsons, at least the 2013s, have Grovers.

They're cheap junk, but oddly enough. They stay in tune.
Still want those Grovers @JIO uses.
Gotohs. :) I'm curious about the weight difference of the Gotoh RES-O-LITE and the stock Grovers on the Gibsons. IIRC, years ago I was told there wasn't a big difference in weight saving. If that's true, you might want to look for someone who took the Grovers off their Gibson and get them pretty cheap.

I have the Y-key Hipshot Ultralites on my Carvin. They're great, but nowhere near as smooth as the Grovers on my Gibson Thunderbird.

You could be a lawyer then. It's funny watching lawyers try to comprehend arithmetic, let alone real math.
Bingo. You outed me. But I’m an honest one. I have a select few engineer types that I hire to do the math stuff. And I come from a family of engineers. That gene skipped me. I’d be a good doctor though if there was ever a chance I could pass Ochem.

Exactly!
Now class, it's time for a pop quiz. Please solve the proper strap length difference between an Epiphone Thunderbird VP and a thunderbird Short Scale bass using the following chart...

....let's see a show of hands, who came up with 4.125 inches, anybody.... anybody.... come on now class, someone other than Kat, anybody?
Jeez.
