Thunderbird Club

Oh, see I went here... but awesome to see the Before!

And if you squint really closely there's even a 'Bird connection...

Changed key and it's hard to tell from the quality of the vid, but it looks like BF has the 'pencil-thin mustache' ... which wasn't his most favorable "look", at least IMPO.

could be the quality of my speakers but it doesn't sound (to me) like they are playing live..

No, not a live recording - but I was impressed by how the editing made MG seem mostly spot-on lip-synching!

Here's an interesting example of the real performance and an edited version with the studio recording -

Live version: backed by the British band "The Echoes" - note the bass players playing a 'brown note' at (0:29) near the beginning.

Edited version w/studio recording:

mad love for the Dusty ...

Hmm. Interesting. The brown note didn't even come close to fitting. Too bad. The live version was pretty nice, even w/o the 'invisible' strings.

I saw/heard the edited version first (my band was learning the song) so later hearing the (actual) live version was ear-opening. But hey, we all play brown notes but they are not cemented in history like in a performance like this. :) (luckily!)

Speak for yourself. I have never hit a brown note(not a recorded one, anyway):angel: actually there's a live video in which I got totally lost but it ain't gettin' posted-unless someone finds it on a dvd.

Interesting. Scooped isn't an attribute that appeals to me, but the added brightness does. I like the feel of nickles, but don’t mind the dryness of the steels, as long as I can get the sound I want.

I played R66s for a very long time. I actually started with those back in the late 70s. But in the last couple years I’ve tried them a few times, and always disappointed with them.

I don’t know if it’s the relatively large number of good choices available today, or they just lost their recipe, but I’ve been unlucky with the R66s.
Has anyone said Ken Smiths yet ?
