Thunderbird Club

Glad it went to a good home.

If you were responsible for all the modifications, then you have excellent taste, sir. This bass is exactly what I wanted and I've been on the lookout for this kind of bass for a few years now. Apologies in advance as I'm planning on changing the nut and going back to EADG instead of BEAD, but that change alone will promote it to my #1. The guys in my band were floored by the sound coming out of this bass.

I saw them 7/17/73...……..Still the worst concert I've ever attended, and that includes walking out on RATT. They were beyond incoherent, sloppy and stupidly boring live.
As a studio band I like some of their music, most of it was grossly overplayed on Seattle's FM radio so I'm pretty burned out on them. For me the studio version of "When the Levee Breaks" is the band's high point.
Pretty much with you. LA jock Jim Ladd at KMET played them so much on his shows, most of us quit listening to them. And him.

And '58 for that matter. We'd be paying quite the premium if they were made back then.
There were Explorers in 1958. I don't know if Gibson made Explorer bass guitars then. The only Gibson bass guitars that I'm aware of made in 1960 were EB-2 and EB-0s. I already have an EB-2, but it's from the mid to late '60s. I don't want an EB-0. A 1960 ES125 is another story altogether. I would absolutely like to have one of those, especially if if has a 1950s style thick neck.

Not me. Never owned it but would have liked to. A lot of us knew of that bass from prior postings about it by respected owners. You bought a gem.
