Thunderbird Club

Huh. Likes the Dead but not Neil. You’re difficult to understand sometimes my friend.
LOL - that's probably because I've never listened to Neil in a drug induced stupor*.

There will be NBDs all ‘round after Epi announces the NR Vintage Pro at Summer NAMM. It. Will. Happen.

*for clarification - while I was in a stupor, not Neil. I probably have heard him when he was in a drug induced stupor.

I saw them 7/17/73...……..Still the worst concert I've ever attended, and that includes walking out on RATT. They were beyond incoherent, sloppy and stupidly boring live.
As a studio band I like some of their music, most of it was grossly overplayed on Seattle's FM radio so I'm pretty burned out on them. For me the studio version of "When the Levee Breaks" is the band's high point.

I had the Led Zeppelin box set (with the crop circles) which must have been given to me because I never would have bought it and I certainly didn't nick it. It ended up given to someone else because there was nothing on it I liked enough to warrant keeping it, except maybe Kashmir.

I like Zeppelin. They were often too raw (live), but Jimmy Paige went out on a limb all the time, Jones and Bonham were like nimble thunder, and Plant... well, you can't have everything at the same time.
Physical Graffiti is among my favorite albums ever.
They stole the blues and actually went somewhere with it.
Edit... Plant was great on a lot of those recordings... i.e., Graffiti...

I never got the allure of Kashmir. One of my least favorite LZ songs, especially from among their hits.

I have that set. It is all the Led Zep that you really need to have.

But I went years without listening to them. Like others here I soured on them as a result of hearing the same 4-5 songs on the radio endlessly.

Out On The Tiles is my fav. Probably not for some others.

I like it too. I was a fan like most teenage boys In the early seventies. But not a rabid one. Thinking back, we didn’t play much of their stuff. Good Times Bad Times, Communication Breakdown, Rock and Roll, Heartbreaker and of course Stairway (for the girls) are all that come to mind.

There were Explorers in 1958. I don't know if Gibson made Explorer bass guitars then. The only Gibson bass guitars that I'm aware of made in 1960 were EB-2 and EB-0s. I already have an EB-2, but it's from the mid to late '60s. I don't want an EB-0. A 1960 ES125 is another story altogether. I would absolutely like to have one of those, especially if if has a 1950s style thick neck.

Here ya go....

The Unique Guitar Blog: Gibson 1958 Explorer Bass

My setup might not be 100% but it's a lot better than when it came in. Took a little more relief out of the neck after giving the new strings a day or so. Lowered the action to a point where I'm able to get my buzz-on-demand but otherwise nice rattle free play. Actually have a bit of radius to the string height instead of all four level. Had to play around a bit as I was getting some back buzz, finally found a comfortable place. Waiting on getting the intonation sorted out when my new pedal tuner comes in but I think The Red Menace is a go.
