Thunderbird Club

Got 3 records to finish up and starting to feel the pressure! Eskimo Brothers live record should be done this week, then more overdubs on two other records...

This tune by Mike Lynch may be in the home stretch. Recorded in the drummers bicycle shop. The only thing added after was a little synth part I did before the first rough mix. Pretty sure the bass is my Cataldo NR

The only (minor) friction point with our singer is she's pretty convinced that DIY recording doesn't work. She's is willing to test the water ... and I'm willing to admit I may be wrong (note the date and time for your records).

Duke - sounds great!
The bass track has an exceptionally nice sound. Can you tell us more about the Bass signal chain... what Bass was used, The Pups and onboard settings, which strings, finger or pic, any pedals, did you cab and mic or go direct? Again really nice crisp bass that fits very good in the mix, slipping out front when it needs to and sliding to the back when it should. Very well done!

That's only part of it! How were the drums and guitar recorded? Vocals?

Yeah, you all lament the disappearance of local rail. But where are you on great lakes shipping!?

Quick Review of the Sound of Music ( Link Removed ) kick off show Saturday:
Missed the first couple of opening acts.
Crown Lands - two guys - a drummer/singer and guitar/bass/keys. Enthusiastic, but two guys trying to make as much noise as they can. No room for the songs to breathe.
Monster Truck - I have never listened to them even though people have told me that I would like them. Well, hearing them live has ensured that I won't bother with any of their studio material. So much hi-mids that it was like an ice pick through your head (with ear plugs in no less). The singer couldn't sing in tune and the back up singer couldn't sing in tune with either the singer or the band.
Headstones - absolutely killed it. Hugh Dillon is still a great front man, but as an over 40 TV star now, the punk rock façade doesn't hold well; but he was wearing a Teenage Head shirt, so he gets some credit. It feels like he is trying to play Joe Dick (from the movie Hard Core Logo) rather than being himself. But the band rocks and he holds the crowd. And they played what you wanted to hear - last few songs he asked what the crowd wanted and we got Fvck You, Edmund Fiztgerald, and Cemetery.
Live - fantastic show. I have never been a huge fan, but I won't turn them off. Played everything really well.
Bush - Didn't stay to see them, but could hear them. Great songs and well played.

The highlight really was Headstones.

Oh. AFA Great Lakes Shipping. Except for the fate of the Edmund Fitzgerald, IDK anything about it.

Thought you guys might like to have a look at the unseen component in my Rig. Various types of boost pedals for the most part, my secret weapon is the Soviet Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi. Left to right Big Muff, Ibanez Bass Tube Screamer, Whirlwind Compressor, DOD bi-fet pre amp and Korg Pitch Black tuner .

Drums were Glynn Johns-ish with the Stager SR-3 ribbon above the kit, AEA R84 ribbon ‘over the shoulder,’ AKG D12 for kick and and RE-20 on the snare. API 512 pres into Lynx Aurora (n) 16. 24/48.
Guitar was a Les Paul Standard with a Fender Vibrolux(?) miked with a 57 and a hand wired Vox AC 15 miked with an Avantone CR-14 ribbon mic.
Vocals were the RE-20, API pres.

Of course you can record yourself. Doesn’t always mean you should, but the worst that can happen is you get good work tapes before you go into the studio

Noted. Of course @dukeorock is right. Worst case, you have good demos to work from.

Dude, shoes! Just barely. Is it an orange amp or cab? I like the orange amps, they are just a bit too spendy.

And places where double track was removed being put back for commuter rail. At least 2 sections in FL(Orlando-Tampa, Miami-West Palm Beach and farther north)
Well at least the right of way was retained. There are so many places where right of way was abandoned and developed over that there’s now no way to economically add mass transit.

Exactly

Well, if you can't figure out how to bookmark a post, I'm sure there is a tutorial on the yoot oobs.
Nah, she won't delete it. She won't have to. By the time anybody knows for sure, the post will be so buried that nobody will ever find it anyway. Just like any post quoting it.
