I'm noodling on the couch. The Yamaha is the couch noodling bass...

I am struck by Adam Clayton's (U2) bass lines. Nothing complicated, but they groove and move the song. They are a palette to which David Evans (The Edge) applies his textures.

I loved U2 in high school. It was new and there wasn't anything like it. It came along just as NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) and hair metal was starting to get stale.

Unfortunately U2 lost me after The Joshua Tree. I appreciate that they were growing musically and reaching out for new sounds. But, the direction was decidedly pop to my ear and I didn't like it. And I can understand anyone deciding that they want to make money for a change.

I think Joshua Tree and Unforgettable Fire are my favourite bass lines to endlessly noodle on the couch.

This random thought brought to you by Bullet the Blue Sky.

Coincidentally, I saw a poster the other day that U2 are touring The Joshua Tree here in November. I’m pretty keen to go, depending on the gouge factor

My couch noodling is in the family room downstairs. I usually have an audience of two listening to me play along to tunes on my ss Mustang PJ through a basic Rumble 25.

Hey Dad, we listened so do we get a treat now? What about now?

Not on topic(big surprise), but I've only visited Canada once, in 82. I met a couple from Barrie, Ont., at the hotel our band played in on Miami Beach. They invited me to come up on vacation. I entered at Windsor-nice, helpful Customs lady-drove across to Toronto, then north to Barrie. We spent the weekend on their boat on Lake Simcoe up by Orillia, then back to Barrie. I left on Monday, reentering the U.S. at Buffalo-nasty attitude Customs man.
I'd love to go back to Canada some day, but this time I wanna go to Dog River, Sask.;)

Vancouver Island for me...…….Gotta go!

I just watched a short newsreel type video on the old Campbelltown - Camden train line that was shut down in 1962 after 80 years.

The trains name was Pansy of all things.

Steam Train content:

Of course now there is agitation for a new line to be built to Camden.

There is/was even a Country song written about it.

Progress is usually a two-edged sword. That is a very 1962 newsreel; I love it.

It's a little comforting to know that we Amis aren't the only ones to be so shortsighted about the shutting down of trains, there were so many Interurban lines throughout western Washington - all gone of course, what a help they would be to our current traffic struggles.

Here they later identified this area to be a growth centre. Now we have the problem of all those people that now drive to the nearest rail stations (more cars than parking spots) or to their workplace. I thought we were the only shortsighted ones.

Of course now the little 2 lane road it ran alongside is now 6 lanes and a lot of the old track area has been utilised for that. The Kenny Hill section - where passengers sometimes had to hop off and walk to allow the train to climb it - has been flattened in the area the road goes through.

So the suggested new connection will have to come from a different direction - right through, or under, the new housing estates they have been replacing our rural area with.

And places where double track was removed being put back for commuter rail. At least 2 sections in FL(Orlando-Tampa, Miami-West Palm Beach and farther north)

Finally! A thorough, unbiased comparison of strap locks!

Despite the 9th place standing, Ima have to go with the Jools.

Nice. I'm definitely switching out my Loxx for those. What a useful site, too. So nice to know why these are all rated as they are.

Had a drummer come in today for an audition. Oir guitarist was struck down with some lurgie but we soldiered on without her. He was very nice about my playing and wants to come back for a go with the guitarist.

I'd forgotten what it's like to play with a proper drummer. He's really good. Really loud. Overplayed a bit because he's trying to impress us, but he was actually following my dynamics which is excellent. Fingers crossed.
I hope it works out. It has been an epic quest to put this project together.

And we are slowly building new ones at staggering cost. How long before those get torn out for progress?

Yeah, I scratched my head at that one.
It appears to just crawl the web looking for all reviews in categories (which it probably derives from said review sites, but it may be curated). So anything that says straplock or a close variant ends up on that page.
Replace the category word in the URL with a word with multiple meanings and see if anything fun shows up.
