Thunderbird Club

This is pretty nuts. Live Fantomas show. Mike Patton on vocals, Terry Bozzio on drums, Buzz Osborne on guitar, and Trevor Dunn on bass.

Love Patton/Fantomas - saw them live at Slims/SF when they first broke ('99) with Dave Lomardo on drums - he did this amazing cymbal intro that was also on their CD "Amenaza al Mundo"- I never heard cymbal harmonics and frequencies like that! It's mostly captured on the CD but live it was insane.

What we're experiencing in the US now is the result of the reaction to the late sixties and the groundwork to counter it started in the early-mid seventies. The movers and shakers operated in the the shadows deliberately to build the foundation for what is happening now. The only more recent 'fluke' was a certain host that proved beneficial to the long-range planers. No conspiracy theories - it's all in highly researched books and it's just up to the populace to educate themselves. (which is daunting at best)

Play the accordion - go to jail  Actually, I saw Al Dimeola years ago with an international (world/jazz) band including an Italian accordion player - he was an amazing player! Redefined what an accordion is capable of sounding like in the right hands and context/music.

There are several amazing accordion players here in central Texas. I got to interview one of them in 2013, and hear a live gig in an intimate setting (KUT's Studio 1A with John Aielli!) I can't recall the guy's name[1] or find my copy of the article. I know he's played with a number of well-regarded musicians, including Flaco Jimenez.

[1] Names are my bane. I have to use them constantly or they wander off. That's been true almost my whole life.

I recall an environmental studies class in the 8th grade. Teacher was convinced we would see an ice age during our lifetime.

But we're seeing the opposite. There's almost a corner there.

Went to the studio today and recorded 3 songs. Got to use the Matchless Thunderman. Man, I LOVE this amp!!
Took about 10hrs to bass, drums, multiple guitar tracks and vocals.

Guitar was a 2001 Les Paul Custom run though an 80's Marshall JCM 800 head for the first track, then second track was 50 watt, Hiwatt and finally we used an Orange TH 30 combo for leads and color.

I could do this kind of thing everyday if allowed...

I can barely play in standard tuning.
Still in standard tuning. I just learned to play in those keys. It was my own fault. I'd got along fine loathing and avioiding them AMAP, but then I learned a couple of songs on the 5 string, but ended up having to play them on the 4. By the end of the set, I was snuggled up against them like lovers.

Sounds like an awesome day! I could do that all day too, but I'd have to get better to be allowed .
What does the "Response" control on a Thunderman do?

Well first off, I hope you get better soon. I don't know what "Response" does but the amp + the Thunderbird was massive sounding.

The engineer for the session could not believe that the bass was not active, based on its output and tonal range (his words, not mine).

I have had a number of people tell me in the last couple of months (shows, rehearsal spaces, recording) how much they love the tone of the bass. Its really nice that other people notice.

That’s awesome! It really is cool.
I meant better on bass, in case it wasn’t obvious. And I’m working on that!

Yah, I love the recording experience. Especially with an engineer who knows their stuff. It's effortless when that happens. :bassist:
