Thunderbird Club

It was 117 here the other day...I rode my bike to work. :)
We finally started breaking 100 this week, so I went for a longer than usual mid-afternoon walk.
Would love to see some 110+ temps but I am in the minority.

Of course, they claimed the “feels like” was 111, but that was absurd. It did not.

....and is the Pink Bird done yet? :D
Yes.

Dude! The shoes are behind the dropcloth. Red paint, not blood. Sorry. Every pair of shoes I own, including motorcycle boots, all fit between the paint and shop vac stuff on the floor, with a variety of fasteners, clamps and other knuckle dragger things on the shelves above them. I make a lousy mod.

It arrived by UPS yesterday at about 1 pm. I snuck out of work early and threw it all back together. Amazingly enough, it made sound just like it was supposed to when I plugged it in, and it intonated perfectly right away, too. No problems with then neck adjustment. I expect to have to adjust it a bit soon, but maybe not.

I played a private party last night, and it was the bass I played. The pixie dust '01 stayed in its case, just waiting for this one to falter. It didn't falter, so the PinkBird was on the whole night. It has tapes on it now, but I'm not convinced I like the way it sounds with those. There is too much muddy orange in the sound of those strings on this bass, at least for now.

It crossed the country in its case. I had it out at work for a few hours, and then it was out getting reassembled and played most of the time up until about 10:00 last night or so. It's in its case now, but it will be back out this evening, and will mostly stay out of its case for more than a week. With any luck, that will solve any imprinting issues.

Yes. I'll take one of each.

And how hard would that be for Gibson or Epiphone? Take the Epi VP T-bird for example - they must be selling a lot of them because they finally went to the trouble of making an authentic RI-like T-bird. To goose the already good sales of the VP - adding those 3 vintage colors to the 'line' would send sales through the roof! But noooo.., black, white and brown-burst over and over again. Not that there's anything wrong with these colours, but come on - up your game!

Oh hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!!

Filmed in Rotorua -- shoulda been a kiwi. MCA was so cool.
I played on a rugby club that toured through Rotorua. I discovered that trying to tackle a big Maori woodsman by hitting him head on as hard as you can doesn't work very well. They put on one of the best parties I have ever been a part of after we played. That's a wonderful place full of wonderful people. I would have stayed there for a long time, given the opportunity.

Hello Gibson/Epipohone... BMM calling... :bassist:

Exactly. Plus, they paint Les Pauls and other guitars all kinds of colors. Why not 'Birds?

WHY NOT BIRDS?! WHY NOT BIRDS?! WHY NOT BIRDS?! (chant for demonstration in front of corporate headquarters)

The PinkBird has vintage style gold knobs. If you are going to put on covers, you may as well go all out pose. I'm undecided on the pickguard. I didn't think I would like the stock white pickguard against BMM, but it is growing on me.

as is

I'd agree and add Thunderbird II.
I have money I'd like to spend, but not on the already offered colors/versions.

$300 total for the two of them is a great deal. I switched to Bergantino cabs nearly two decades ago and haven looked back since, zero cab GAS. Built like a Peavey tank to last forever, super efficient speakers, perfectly voiced crossovers and only a hint of coloration on the dark side. I may be in the minority here, but I prefer rat fur. It's so much more durable than tolex and now that smoking is pretty much out of vogue you don't have to worry about it picking up off odors. Just keep it away from cats or you'll quickly have a set of $300 scratching posts.
I agree rat fur is more durable, but it just doesn’t make sense at my house. This girl sheds an incredible amount:

And these two don’t help the situation:
