Thunderbird Club

It really is about the kids.

Yeah, exactly what I was thinking. But for the new blue, I’m not going the vintage bridge route. But if the tuners would work and the pickups would fit, maybe...how are the tuners on them? I recall one post on here calling the c**p. But I haven’t seen the rest of you complain...
IIRC - Eppi changed tuner models a few months after the initial VP release. I have one of the early ones and the tuners are fine, no issues, work great. I've heard others complain about the newer tuners being sloppy.

But nothing comes close to the slop on my Goth. They hold tune ok but getting there is an excercsie in frustration. Total garbage.

Tuners seem to be the primary cost cutting part in otherwise good, but inexpensive basses. My MIM Mustang PJ is exactly the same. Holds tune, but getting there is tedious.

*** Thunderbirds are cool, but there are people who are not cool who play them also. Perhaps the player is not the best way to judge a Thunderbird.

While your math fu is excellent, your cool grokking is not. You do not get to decide if you are cool. We say you are both cool so you are stuck with that.

If necessary, that’s a royal we. One e.

I'm being very Postmodern, even Rousseauian today (my actual polar opposite), so facts and rationality are irrelevant. It's how I feel that really matters.

Like I said, off the top of my head.;) Didn't say the top was like a Aircraft Carrier!

At least I admitted I was cool at one time. No Postmodern nonsense there. I really was.:D I think. I can't really be sure. Crap, there's that Postmodern thing again.
I’ve transitioned between cool and not cool so often my 64-bit accumulator rolled over at least once.

I have two....... For now

So do I. That makes us part of the "cool kids", but you will be even cooler if you land another ;)

Hmmmm...
$300 for pickups, tuners, two piece bridge, knobs and electronics. Not bad if you want to chrome out an existing TBird.
The rest isn't worth keeping or fixing.

Could be a good 7enderbird project. Cut off the neck and add a bolt-neck. I know someone with a 76 Bird with a 7ender neck on it.

I don't know. My daughter assures me that I am not cool. And from my recollections of being a teenager, it is impossible to be a dad and be cool unless you happen to be a real rock star (rock star, not pop star).
