Thunderbird Club

Original G&L headstock. They changed to the ugly one when Fender complained to Leo.
No lawsuit necessary.

G&L recently made authentic RI's of their original single pu L-1000 - kudos for that

Well that was the second and last time I play with that guy. I have two general options for music situations.

1. Start something new and have free reign, but inevitably be fruitlessly looking for a drummer.

2. Try and join an existing band and hit the ground running, but have to learn their songs.

This thing was the worst of the two. No drummer, yet the guy only seemed to want to do his own songs, and also started telling me what to play in certain parts. So there's no drummer, you're telling me what to play and not paying me, and you're using my practice space and not offering money. NOPE.

Nope to that is reasonable. Yep would have been a sign of character flaws.

Dives have said they would allow us to touch their stage if we brought 50 people at 1 am on a Tuesday night. Uh, right. Skipping that great honor was tough, but we did it.

So true - here's the breakdown: (at least this is the current mode in SF) few clubs/venues (many closing at a record rate), many, many bands, and an attempt on the clubs benefit to bring in warm (drinking) bodies on an off-weekend night. One such establishment here (on a Wednesday night) books 5 bands starting at 7pm. Of course the 1st band never starts before 7:45, each following band goes late and the last band is pushed after midnight. (on a weeknight) Frankly SF is not New Orleans with music every night of the week. The other factor here is young techies who are not going to clubs. It feels like the end of an era. Your town/city will vary.

Oh, and one last detail about that club - no comped drinks for the bands. So think about it - each band can have as many as 5 members, each will buy an overpriced drink while there. 5x25 at $10 @ = $250 profit for the club. They have 5 bands both Friday and Sat night as well. 100% guaranteed profit (from the bands) adds up quickly.

I love my Epi Classic Pro Thunderbird. The one that a bunch of you enthusiastic enablers helped me buy.
We played last weekend and that bass is wrapping itself around my voice like a trumpet around a note, and invoking transcendence. She's settling in nicely.
Birdie is home.
Love mine too. Used it to record my latest song, in fact. It sounds great on the recording. Cheers!
