Is that Chris Squire playing a Thunderbird, or are my eyes deceiving me?
When that was going on, I was listening to the Dead Kennedys, Black Flag and DOA. Def Leopard and their ilk were “Poodle Heads” to us.You say that like hair-metal was all bad. As much as I agree that there was terrible hair-metal, there were some great bands/songs as well.
Hair-metal gave us (in no particular order and not exhaustive):
Guns n Roses,
Motley Crue (Thunderbird)
Scorpions,
Iron Maiden,
Bon Jovi,
The Cult,
Lynch Mob (George Lynch)
Joe Satriani (although without hair)
Steve Vai
Judas Priest,
Billy Sheehan,
Michael Schenker Group,
All great players/bands. But there was a lot of terrible bands/music too.
She was more concerned about the questionable nature of the relationship of those nasty 'birdsI suspect that the concern is that you are not preparing a snack.

Honestly. Everybody. Including old chubby bald guys like me.When that was going on, I was listening to the Dead Kennedys, Black Flag and DOA. Def Leopard and their ilk were “Poodle Heads” to us.
I have since gone back, listened to and gained some appreciation for many of the hard rock/metal bands of the era.
Yes they looked ridiculous, but show business requires outlandishness.
And anybody with a Thunderbird is pretty much cool no matter what![]()
I think it looks great on you!Honestly. Everybody. Including old chubby bald guys like me.

True. A Thunderbird imbues the wearer/player with a kind of implied savvy authority.I think it looks great on you!
So true - here's the breakdown: (at least this is the current mode in SF) few clubs/venues (many closing at a record rate), many, many bands, and an attempt on the clubs benefit to bring in warm (drinking) bodies on an off-weekend night. One such establishment here (on a Wednesday night) books 5 bands starting at 7pm. Of course the 1st band never starts before 7:45, each following band goes late and the last band is pushed after midnight. (on a weeknight) Frankly SF is not New Orleans with music every night of the week. The other factor here is young techies who are not going to clubs. It feels like the end of an era. Your town/city will vary.
Oh, and one last detail about that club - no comped drinks for the bands. So think about it - each band can have as many as 5 members, each will buy an overpriced drink while there. 5x25 at $10 @ = $250 profit for the club. They have 5 bands both Friday and Sat night as well. 100% guaranteed profit (from the bands) adds up quickly.
“We’re a real business that has to make a profit. You’re just a bunch of musicians who think the world owes you a living.”
Honestly. Everybody. Including old chubby bald guys like me.

Being all backwards, do those go down to 11?

Truth told, her concern was because she'd just watched me catch the SS as it slipped off of the Epibird and tried to (neck?)dive to the kitchen floor and she doesn't like it when Dad uses those angry sounding, short wordsNo, that dog has the "Don't I deserve a snack?" look on her face. Of course, that and "Don't I deserve some attention?" are pretty much the only expressions that dogs can do.

So it is the "It wasn't me, it was the cat!" look.Truth told, her concern was because she'd just watched me catch the SS as it slipped off of the Epibird and tried to (neck?)dive to the kitchen floor and she doesn't like it when Dad uses those angry sounding, short words

We should all take a hint here. Nothing could be more rock n roll than playing a Thunderbird in slippers. The Queen should give up her stilettos in favour of some sensible slippers.

And what's wrong with slippers may I ask. You could wear some of those high heeled mule slippers that Penelope Keith used to wear in the Good Life. Very attractive. In a word, NO.

Hair Metal?Hard Rock and a lot of "Hair Metal" bands are my guilty pleasure, Cinderella, Dokken, Crue, Scorps, et al. That was fun stuff, not really meant to taken to seriously.
If I walked into a pub and saw you with that bass, I’d think Cool!Honestly. Everybody. Including old chubby bald guys like me.
