So young they all were! Watt doesn't so much play the bass - he assaults the bass!

Went down a rabbit hole to some of his stuff with Nels while I was at it.

I have a kill switch on a couple of basses and like having it. Does it get used much? Not really, but it gets used as much as the tone control that it replaced in the circuit (which was just always set full on).

I use mine all the time, especially at rehearsals. So I can be obnoxious and silent at the same time, while we're discussing Parts Etc.

Personally I would never use a toggle if I had it installed because I tend to blend the pickups (usually more neck than bridge) and in fact, the toggle on the bass that has one is removed from the circuit. I would prefer to have a dummy switch in place rather than an open hole on the face of the instrument tho. I'm a bit shallow when it comes to things like that.

Yup Copy that,
The toggle function really doesn't get used much, l basically leave it set in the middle & roll the pots as you described, eventually I may upgrade the PU'S & it may become a coil tap, for now I just may change it to a "kill"

On my JBS, I have used the toggle like a kill switch. Roll off the J pickup completely and then flip to that position.

I did a search to get a better look and found this about it:

1966 [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] (non-reverse) bass
"bluey" - my main bass from 1995 - 1999
put in a bartolini pre-amp and grover tuners
snapped it's headstock off and grafted it back
got this one in new york city

Having spent a few hrs in Watts presence, he very much enjoys spreading Watt's epic lore. (and yes, he speaks in third person a lot)

Yep, The Black Gang or something like that - I have an EP of that short-lived project somewhere and he's also on the Big Train LP. I saw them live a few times with Banyon and those two together are dangerous - like one is a huge pile of explosives and the other is a blow-torch. No one gets out alive.

There are lots of options if you aren't afraid of wiring and soldering. Parallel/series, phase, kill, volume or tone presets, p/u selector, etc.
