Thunderbird Club

I sing that song every time I leave a cake out in the rain.

But, perhaps we can change your tears of agony into tears of joy.

I would be hard pressed to find an SCTV skit they did that I didn't like... :)

And the audience throwing a brick! Must have really loved him -

That's much better than the original.

McArther Park isn't in the same category as the other two - it's kind of in its own category... with these three - melodrama rock, a category I'm fond of.

If you want to lump those three in with MP that's fine with me, I'll take your word for it that they are as horrid as the cake in the rain song. However, I won't be wasting my time listening to them to confirm their horridness, I have more exciting things to do, like cleaning up all the dog crap in the back yard before the landscaper gets here.

Vanilla Fudge in there. I would be hard pressed to find a song they did that I didn't like...

[edit]

But you are right. The first two fit into the category of novelty crap-pop.

Love the VF - Tim Bogert ruled! They were all about melodrama. The thing about those types of songs is that the bands/artists really thought they were making something grandiose and superlative - beyond rock. It nudges up against theater as the delivery is more emotive/theatrical. Windmills is a great song that was covered by numerous artists/singers and VF's version is wonderfully over the top - especially re-mastered with that bombastic intro.

Don't knock eating your cake out in the rain until you tried it! :hyper:

Before you thin it anymore be sure to check the cavity depth you need to fit the volume and tone pots and still have a flush mount cover. 1" at the wing tips is cutting it pretty close. I suppose you could always switch over to smaller alpha pots vs the CTS size if needed.
The output jack is on the front, so I need to retain enough depth for the 1/4 plug. :woot:

Working again with my pal Mike Lynch. Solid young singer/guitarist/writer. I played bass (Cataldo NR41), sang bgv’s, engineered and will mix this. Just a trio, cut live with no overdubs. Vocals were cut separately. I’ll probably do some overdubs if it makes the record. I got all fancy and used 6 mics for this one, as well as my API 512 preamps. Bass was recorded direct. Ive never noticed this with SoundCloud, but after uploading it shrunk the low end a bit

I measured again and the center section is very close to 1.5", the wings taper from 1-1/4" to 1" (maybe +1/16") - the control cavity depth (on my '64) which is mostly situated in the thicker part of the wing is 1" deep which includes a 1/8" inset at the perimeter for the cover. Sorry for my first #'s - these are more accurate.

Because your control cavity angles into the thin section of the taper you need to account for having material there as the wing tapers to 1", otherwise it will pop through. The wings taper from both sides back and front symmetrically.

Thanks, that makes sense.
My VP seems to only have the taper on the back of the wings. I might do a little bit of taper on the front, obviously watching my control cavity.

I haven’t done any rounding or the belly cut, so that will also make it look different. Next step will be to remove the rest of the finish.

Really like the drum sound! And a bassline reminiscent of my former days as a 'pop' bass player -- nice clever inversions (what the fool guitarist used to call 'mistakes').

Can nitro go over that? I’ve put together a bass without a finish (to see how it worked/sounded) but neck gets dirty and you end up sanding to clean it up.
I like the way the neck of my upright is polishing over the years. It's unfinished maple. I guess the finish is sweaty palm gunk. Not great to think about, but it is almost the exact right texture for playing.
