in the middle, Jim Rosenberg (wearing the ball cap), old time friend and recently retired CEO of Epiphone, to his right, his son Dillon Rose, play in a band with him often (remember him as a kid running around all muddy from the San Lorenzo river up in the SC mountains) now on tour in UK with his band Archer Nation.....far right (left) is Jackson, 14 year old smoking player...on drums, kiwi born Keith Graves who tours with Kid Rock..

I love this! But why is the Thunderbird disguised?

McArther Park isn't in the same category as the other two - it's kind of in its own category... with these three - melodrama rock, a category I'm fond of.

Love DOA! The others? Meh. But MP is worst in that category, too.

Working again with my pal Mike Lynch. Solid young singer/guitarist/writer. I played bass (Cataldo NR41), sang bgv’s, engineered and will mix this. Just a trio, cut live with no overdubs. Vocals were cut separately. I’ll probably do some overdubs if it makes the record. I got all fancy and used 6 mics for this one, as well as my API 512 preamps. Bass was recorded direct. Ive never noticed this with SoundCloud, but after uploading it shrunk the low end a bit

Hey folks. I’ve been out for a while, but thought I’d update you all on my continuing TBird adventures.

Lollars rock. Got me where I want to be sonically. TBird can be my all-night-bass, crossing from Sly Stone to Rush.

Finally broke down and got a Gator Dual gig bag. Free returns, so no risk, but it’s a keeper.

None of the previous mentioned songs hold a candle to the brilliance of "Some Velvet Morning," a Lee Hazlewood/Nancy Sinatra masterpiece. I dare any gigging band on talkbass to play that one at a gig. I triple dare ya!

A Precision is for full smacking. Case or no case. My P thinks it is a war club disguised as a bass guitar. Thunderbirds look dangerous but are far more polite.

I once did an Americana gig with a (very drunk) drummer who sang bgv’s. During a cover of a Tom Waits song, I was playing the third below the root a lot as a passing tone to the 4 chord. Very common. The drummer started YELLING into the microphone “Mark!!! You’re playing the wrong note!!!” He continued this yelling for the entire song. I still occasionally chew him out for it even though that gig was probably 8-10 years ago

Prolly a fan of the "all root, all the time" school of bass playing. The way I play, I'da clocked 'im with the exploding headstock.

I used to sing it in our 'lounge' group in the 70s.
